Would have loved to go last night. But it was cooling down from midday and there's no way I could bring my 2 and 3 year old kids out to that game.very good crowd considering. I would imagine lots of families with young ones would have decided against risking sick kids.

That was an exceptional crowd at Penrith.
It was literally freezing similar to conditions we often get in Canberra
And to get over 13000 was an awesome effort.

I was at Wembley in 93 for RLWC final in front of 73K, we have also lost ashes tours and France has become a non entity. There has been progress in very recent years of the test scene for PI's after the NRL finally had the money and interest to support them and womens NZ v Aus test matches given support.

Beyond that we still have a sporadic international calendar, eligibility issues, no nations even close to the top 3, clubs white anting Int RL, SOO seen as the pinnacle in Australia and most test matches either not shown on TV or buried with little hype and coverage.

Where do you feel there has been significant progress given your strong condemnation of the idea things haven't improved much Adam?

In my time watching RL I would say early 90's were best, late 90's to 2008 disaster, 2008 - 2012 reboot, 2012-now big improvements. Hopefully Australia build on the success of the last wold cup and it is a huge success. and hopefully they bring back GB ashes tours!

GB may have declined but NZ is sitting on top of Australia.
International calendar - for the first time we have a regular and growing world cup.
Eligibility issues are only a problem that's emerged due to the growth of the international game.
France and PNG, while they've had some false starts, are looking promising again with high performing club teams and a real shot at shaking things up.

But most importantly, we're seeing Rugby League pop in countries all over the world. Russia, Spain, Serbia.. USA, Canada and Jamaica facing off for qualification in the WC.

You aren't wrong about the late 90s-early 2000s being a disaster (and not just for international league) but I think what we're seeing now is a much brighter picture than even before that. Hopefully England can keep up :sarcasm:

15106 @ ANZ. Shithouse.

Seems a decent crowd to me. A cold Saturday night against an out of state team during the origin period. The crowds this weekend seem pretty decent really. Could easily have had some shockers with the cold weather and origin killing the NRL as usual.

Knights crowd is diabolical, this game should be a 20k + game for the knights. Looks like fans are now finally not showing up for games. No other team would have had the crowds we had over this time, but the crap dished out is taking it's toll.

You are last placed with 1 win.... And you still got more than the first placed team with 10 wins in a row. I doubt any other team would of gotten more than the nights in that situation

Yeah but we have been shit for 10 years with 2 wooden spoons in that time. Our crowds have mostly maintained a good average, and it is only now just slipping away. It's taken a long time for our fans to turn away.

Compared to other teams we do well for crowds, but compared to ourselves it's shit.

12,645 @ robina today, very encouraging given the past few years up there and against weaker drawing opposition in Canberra. Hopefully a sign of a general recovery in their crowds.

And a lot of those would be dragons fans. When the dragons scored or made a break from the level of crowd noise made you would have thought it a dragons home game.
