I don't know anyone who would go. Last night had the feeling of a tipping point. That moment when your opponent beats you so many times, so categorically, that you think "I couldn't be arsed with this" and just give it away.

Don't forget how fickle Sydney is.

Queensland may have just killed the goose that lays the golden egg by merely being so successful.

That's just human nature though, if QLD lost 10 in a row those Gold tickets at Suncorp wouldn't be selling as quickly as they currently are either. People love being part of a winning culture, it has nothing to do with passion or QLD supporters being more passionate then NSW.

People are people everywhere you go.

Welcome to the world of England RL fans lol. I've been waiting all my life to see GB/England win a major tournament!
At least NSW fans just have to wait a couple more years till Thurston et al retire.

And look at the interest in the UK for the English National side. Games against the Kangaroos IN THE 80s used to sell the bigger venues out (Wembley maybe not sold out but the likes of Old Trafford and Elland Road) and be nationally televised. These days it's smaller venues, local TV.

I went to Wembley in 92 and if it wasn't sold out it was as good as.

Great atmosphere.

2011 got some decent crowds for England but the Int RL scene certainly hasn't got any stronger in the last 20 years but we know who is to mostly blame for that.

The crowd of 5000 at the Aus/Ireland RLWC match certainly screams success

RL is very much a minority sport in Ireland and 99% sure it was the biggest crowd to a RL game in Ireland, forward progress.. So yes, success I would say.

In terms of attendance, revenue and exposure (ratings and the like) 2013 is considered the most successful World Cup. I don't know why Andrew Bolt is always posting here, he doesn't seem to like rugby league.

Well apart from 67,000 crowds for Semis at Wembley and 74,000 crowd for final at Old Trafford there was this:

Triple M's Matty Johns is impressed the Rugby League World Cup is smashing the TV ratings in England, even managing to beat the English Premier League (EPL) on the weekend.

On a weekend that saw the England rugby union team taking on Argentina, EPL on Sky and an ATP tennis tour featuring the top players in the world, England v Fiji at the RLWC2013 came out on top with 2.2 million people watching compared to 810,000 watching the soccer..

That was British TV. Lots of sports would like 'failures' like that I presume..

Int RL has its flaws but to say it hasn't improved in 20 years is demonstrably complete nonsense.

To say the poms haven't improved as a footy team in 20 years is far more accurate.

I was at Wembley in 93 for RLWC final in front of 73K, we have also lost ashes tours and France has become a non entity. There has been progress in very recent years of the test scene for PI's after the NRL finally had the money and interest to support them and womens NZ v Aus test matches given support.

Beyond that we still have a sporadic international calendar, eligibility issues, no nations even close to the top 3, clubs white anting Int RL, SOO seen as the pinnacle in Australia and most test matches either not shown on TV or buried with little hype and coverage.

Where do you feel there has been significant progress given your strong condemnation of the idea things haven't improved much Adam?

In my time watching RL I would say early 90's were best, late 90's to 2008 disaster, 2008 - 2012 reboot, 2012-now big improvements. Hopefully Australia build on the success of the last wold cup and it is a huge success. and hopefully they bring back GB ashes tours!
