For Thursday night games in Sydney the NRL should subsidize the game for the club and charge no more then $10 for adults and kids free. Even then I think its going to be a struggle there might be plenty of viewers on TV but its embarrassing having a professional sport played in an empty stadium.

Who cares. Crowd attendances don't make money.

Just get over it you mob of douchebags

Exactly right, it's clear as day the NRL does not care 1 bit about people like you. I don't know what some of you were expecting from last night or Monday night.

Instead of debating the same old thing over and over again some of you just have to accept that NRL crowds will be low for many years to come.

Good point.

Last night they were charging $34 for a GA ticket. That is a disgrace.

I was talking to a couple from Victoria
Well they moved to Melb for ten years and they came back
Anyway the reckon
Tix for AFL were about $15 for adults and $2 for kids.
This was a few years back but not that long ago
Late 90's 2000's
They used to go all the time because it was so cheap

AFL GA tickets are $25 @ the MCG tomorrow, $5 for kids 6 - 14. Or a family 2+2 $50

So still pretty cheap. It is a tactic to get people in and keep them coming back.

In most cases those GA tickets are up in the sky at the G. Great view but an absolute punish to get up there and no good if you have vertigo.

NRL ticket prices aren't all that different. It's when you add the fees for ticket agencies it becomes expensive.

As someone said earlier, Thursdays and Mondays are total write offs unless they make serious incentives.
$34 for a worst-seats ticket (for 2 underperforming teams as well) is outrageous in a 44k stadium when the low crowd was entirely predictable.

Does no one in this sport understand supply and demand? You don't sell something at a premium price if no ones buying it.

Last night's crowd of 6000, let's say only half of that was season tickets (more likely it was 80%).
So, 3000 tickets sold at $34 = $102,000.
To better that amount with cut price $10 tickets, they would have had to sell merely 10,200.

Does anyone think they could have got a crowd of 13,000 with a well advertised $10 ticket campaign? I do.

Personally I don't think ticket prices would have made that much of a difference in this instance. Monday and Thursday night games are a ride off altogether.

I'm beginning to realize that rugby league is over valued in general. People simply do not see the value in going to an average rugby league game such as the one last night or last monday's game.

I for instance cannot make the game this Sunday afternoon which is an ideal time slot to go to the footy by the way. I have seats on the half way line in Aisle 107 to all Rabbitohs home games.

I was trying my hardest to give away my membership cards to anybody willing to attend this Sunday and quite frankly even supporters from both clubs would rather do something else then go to this game.

Now I think that speaks for itself. If people don't want to go for free.

Sharks have done a fairly good job of attracting the 18-30 market. No other club bar the swans really seems to. Like the above poster i couldnt give away 40m line upper granstand seats for dragons v titans nor can i find anyone to sit in free ga with me at anz. Can get a big group for swans matches if you agree to go out in paddo after.

Roosters vs Broncos - 8k
Bulldogs vs Dragons - 16k
Warriors vs Panthers - 12k
Eels vs Tigers - 11k
Cowboys vs Storm - 17k
Rabbits vs Raiders - 10k
Manly vs Knights - 12k
Titans vs Sharks - 9.5k
The Roosters match looks to be the only one you've overestimated. Bulldogs V Dragons and Eels Vs Tigers should get higher numbers than this

Always hard to tell at Homebush but looks even less than i predicted. Not too many years ago games like this involving bulldogs/souths/dragons/parra/wests were getting 25k regularly and there were a heap of 30k crowds outside of public holidays for consecutive years. Now its a struggle to get 15k on a clear night between big clubs. The is in massive trouble imo

ANZ is shit. Not going there until it gets redone. Even with free tickets.

I've been to Auckland to watch saints the last 3 years but ANZ is horrible.

I don't see why people think it so bad. Its a great facility with a train station at its door step. Sure its not perfect viewing or geographically for everyone. But there are plenty of good seats in that lower bowl that never get use in club games.

And you have to pay shit loads for them. Even then, the front row is 20m away with no elevation. ANZ is up there with the worst grounds in the world. Only beaten by the MCG and SCG to watch footy at.

I have always found homebush to be more affordable than moore park, just in my experience anyway.

Ive had the same issue. But also with concert tickets. People don't seem to bother going outside in Sydney unless it's a major event.
