2016 Crowd Watch

NRL is a TV game now - the code should just accept that.
They should do everything to maximise the TV dollar. Have a 3 minute quarter time and three quarter time. Also give each coach a 90 second time out each half (thats four additional ad slots) and stop the clock for each stoppage so that the 80 minutes is actual playing time and the game goes for 2 hours.
Most importantly play all games in major stadiums where more or bigger ads can replace sections of the crowd (either end of ANZ should be capable of being turned into giant dropdown billboards stretching from roof to floor).

Pissed down all day 2013 v Cowboys, 42.5k.

Pissed down all day 2011 v Titans 31k.

Pissed down all day 2012 v warriors 32k.

While the crowds were affected, limited, not really.

Precisely my point. These games would have had 5-10k more under fine circumstances.

And my point isn't limited to NRL either - all sports are affected by weather. It's nothing new.

Looks like he hates Leichhardt too if its still raining on Sunday. I swear there hasn't been a dry and sunny game at Leichhart for ages.

Ouch, outstanding work NRL, how to alienate your clubs from their supporters. We are now beyond Aleague comparisons and heading for 2nd grade AFL territory! Don't despair though, only 5 years of Thursday nights to go.

sure rain and form will affect crowds, problem is when you are starting from such a low baseline adverse conditions are going to turn out truly embarrassing numbers such as this.

Why aren't you calling for St George to be punted from the comp and replaced with a Perth team?

because the NRL has no balls and is content with the status quo so what's the point? They've got their tv money to keep the fat cats in cream and will happily trundle along until the next TV deal where they will give yet more of the games soull to the Tv execs in return for a record deal and trump it as a huge outcome for the game.

There's little point even talking about crowds anymore as the die is cast.

Sydney deserve maybe 4 teams Max.

You can understand why Sydney only got 2 RLWC2017 games. Fans in other cities are just more willing to fight traffic and get out and support their team.

I agree. We were told that the TV deal was great for fans, that's BS. Big crowds help to make big matches, crowds at marquee matches were building nicely over the years, but we've gone backwards. The game still has not realised that the fans need to be put first, without us, it has nothing. Make the game great again

100%. Most on here didn't fall for the old line from the NRL "its a win for the fans" when they announced the latest deal.

The current schedule disrupts hardcore and casual fans attending which puts the long term future of the game in serious jeopardy as when people get out of a habit for a sustained period its very hard to win them back.

I've been to more QRL games than NRL in the last 3 years. When you are in a city over 2m and you have one team which plays 95% of their games on Thurs or Friday night, you see why people aren't going as much.
Looking forward to Easts Tigers game this Sunday at Langlands Pk
