Crowd seemed about right to me, pretty dissapoining but you can see what thursday does, its just as bad as monday no better or worse. I had friends and family pull out who wouldn't have if it were on at a different day. as they don't play thurdays on a bye round how many turdsdays will that leave next year, every team should host at least one to share the burden against interstate teams. so all the decent match-ups are saved for the decent time slots. In sydney they should all be played at small grounds so it doesn't look like piss on tv. Easts can play at Randwick oval, souths at redfern etc.
But whose fault is it? As fans we tend to blame other fans for not turning up but it is a short lived business that blames its customers for not buying its products.
Last night positives were ticket price cheap, train to ground made getting their easyish.
Everything else was pretty sht house. Terrible food at silly prices, no atmosphere, whole place felt like a shopping centre at closing time on a Sunday .
Was there any promotion to both sets of Fans encouraging attendance? NRL,scheduling destroyed much chance of a decent crowd, is there much hype about attending the NRL, are sports fans bought into the excitement of the game?
It all seems too hard for clubs and NRL and they appear to have pretty much given up on fans attending games.
All of these are what, absolute worst case scenario? Doom and gloom is strong in this thread.Storm vs Broncos 14k
Manly vs Raiders 7.5kk
Titans vs Panthers 15k
Sharks vs Roosters 11k
Warriors vs Tigers 9k
Knights vs Rabbits 15k
Eels vs Dragons 8k

What if it was thurday against...say manly who's fans don't travel. My point is to minimise the damage done by this slot. so we have everyone hosting one that's 16 rounds, plus 6 rounds of byes so no thursday, then the bottom four teams from the previous year host a thursday match.A game at Redfern isn't going to look good no matter what. It would look like we were playing at a high school.

that's true and the train comes only every fifteen (i took the train). the pax on my ticket said 15,132 so I reckon people either couldn't get off work, couldn't get out there or were put off by the rain, the previous day.I'm sure I heard the commentators mention that it took the Cows over an hour to travel the 16km to Belmore from their hotel.
Jesus Christ.
Rain, hail or shine, there would literally be thousands of people who wouldn't bother attempting that gridlock.

I don't get it either, it won't rate at all. The NRL has screwed fans over big time.Imagine Friday 6pm starts. I still cannot believe they have done it or why fox would push for it when 6pm is dominated by news programming. no viewers and no attendees

The weirdest part is the NRL haven't even begun to try and promote this timeslot, like they did years ago with MNF or even Thursdays. They might in the offseason but it goes to show how stupid the idea is and they are treating it like the elephant in the room.
