I thought it looks like a bit more, but yeah. This game, like Good Friday match should really have cracked 40k. Weather?

I was expecting 40k, I mean it looked fairly close from where I was sitting so I was a little surprised at that figure. Still a good crowd IMO.

I don't think the weather would've put people off, mind you it looked a bit ordinary at the start.

Except this is the first time it's been designated at WT home game. Been the Eels' since it started 2-3 years back.

Correct this is the first time the tigers have held Easter monday as there home game, all the rest have been Eels home games.

So the Eels still have a home game at ANZ against the Tigers to come.

36k is a record for a Tigers regular season game i think, with that in mind its a good crowd.

Ratio of Eels to Tigers was 50/50.

I may be wrong but I thought it was at least 60/40 Eels fans, if not more

The IQ of the territory dropped when you visited , & rose again when you left.
We love that clueless twits think Canberra is a hole... We don't want soap dodging wankers getting any ideas
About relocating now do we

I've lived in Perth and Canberra shits all over it. Perth is full of people with an inferiority complex, constantly complaining about something or other. Where have I heard that before?

From my vantage point in the SW corner, it looked like more Eels than Tigers (maybe 60/40). The SE corner was very full of Eels, and the Parra chant was significantly louder. Mind you, the Tigers gave us very little to chant about...

It's great scheduling an interstate team to play on the last game the night before people are due back to work from a long weekend. Sharks-Storm game draws more people if put on Saturday or even early Monday. Instead, it means anyone from Melbourne who wanted to come to Sydney for the long weekend probably wouldn't be able to make the game.

would have gone to the raiders, but I was away.
is there stuff to do in Canberra at easter, yes. Are the Raiders that thing? nah. not really
but if the weather is alright its the last chance to get down the coast for a lot of people

The Raiders have an engagement problem IMO. They put in a lot towards junior RL but doesn't exactly convert people to be fans of them.

they have basically been irrelevant for 20 years. haven't made a prelim since 1997. they exist, but they don't reallyt do anything. they have the odd flash. but they have not been a legit threat to winning the comp since the mid nineties.
whats the stat...every team has made the prelim final in the NRL era except the raiders? including the titans, and souths who were punted.
made a lot of people jaded. people don't care that much IMO. i know a lot of league fans and they cant be f**ked going. most cos they don't support the raiders and its easier to just go down the club and watch em on tv.

and they do f**k all in schools south of about civic. legit, i went to public school in the south of Canberra and not once did an ARL/NRL Raiders rep/player etc
school or anything.

As for Sharks
bit of a poor crowd. but its 7pm on a Monday night after the whole long weekend if you don't live in the area you aren't gonna go

so the locals have to make the extra 5k up to get the place rockn.
so perhaps a bit lazy from them.

Last time I was in Canberra I didn't see any promotion or advertising for the Raiders. Saw heaps for the Brumbies. I think if and when the Raiders start making finals more regularly the crowds will gradually get better. In saying that the Brumbies crowds are not much better are they? It is also miserably cold in winter. I live in QLD now and I think most people here would think its the end of the world if they had to sit in Canberra stadium on a windy night in July.

its brutal

so when the games are night games etc if there is a hint of rain about it kills the crowd because Canberra stadium isn't all that good coverage wise. so you will get wet unless you pay more than a lot of families can afford.
when its fine....its actually colder. but atleast you aren't wet. but legit i went to a game two years ago that it was 0 at the ground at kickoff and this was the middle of the arvo.
and its all concrete and its just f**kn cold man.

they dont promote like you think they would. they are pretty lazy in that regard IMO. same adds for years. don't do family promotions etc to my knowledge
brumbies do more.

brumbies play a lot of their games at night in the shit winter weather because other teams, even the kiwi ones hate going there to play. its part of it. and the brumbies have been much more consistently relevant that the raiders. even though its the super rugby.

The raiders fans are really bandwagon types too.
Canberra in general. like people who don't go for two years but then all went to that tigers semi etc or the sharks semi

what would help the raiders is the pipe dream proposal of the indoor fortsyth barr style stadium in the city.
then atleast you can go to stuff in the city before/after and its not freezing cold in the ground.

a lot of Canberra people just aren't engaged by the Raiders tho. from my experience of having lived here my whole life

like, the difference in support for the Raiders and the Knights in terms of one team towns etc
