Manly crowd started with a 9

Yay suburban grounds

The last 10 years of Manly and Roosters dominating and all they can muster is 4 digit crowds.

Just get rid of the cap and let these miniature teams die already...:sarcasm::lol:

Also bring back lord Hayne plane..

They did have one bay highlighted in the closed off bay as "away bay" last night as the first one had sold out. But it has since disappeared and away bay is coming up as alloc exhausted. I think they will try sell out the vacant seats in the eastern stand for cheaper as it would work out cheaper for the nrl to fire-sell them than open the other stand.

Correction - they will try sell the left over western stand seats first. Although they are showing as not available I cant see them all as being presold titans members...

They (manly) are lucky they have one very rich fan. Imagine if Penn was a bears supporter?

Hmm yeah, Eats and Western sides have 5 bays between them down to a 'Single Seat Only', whilst the Northern end still looks pretty available.

Just found that without the Southern end open, the capacity of Cbus is 21, 460. So we might see a crowd tonight of 17-18,000?

Just open the sth end, looks terrible on head on shots..

do nrl realise images of the game go round the world, and are replayed ad naseum for eternity...

id rather see nth and sth half empty ... than a closed end,,

what is the cost, of opening it, 2 bar tenders and a couple of cleaners... give me a break

Less to do with suburban ground and more to do with suburban club. When you are only likely to draw sub10% of your catchment population then small catchment clubs are only ever going to draw small crowds, regardless of stadium quality. It's why the smart clubs like Souths and Bulldogs now see themselves as Sydney clubs and market to fanbases from across the whole city. Play out of a central stadium and bobs your uncle.

Suburban grounds make the code look like a pub game not a professional game. The same suburban grounds that everyone like so much they don't bother to attend.

The likes of West Tigers having embarrassing crowds at campbelltown and Manly crowds in general shows how much fans truly care about suburban grounds. All talk about the romanticism and enjoyment of suburban grounds, and no great crowd to back it up.

Manly & Roosters had a ton of success this decade and couldn't translate to crowds. Manly, in particular constantly making finals and rarely pack out Brookvale constantly ever, all that success and no increase in crowds. The opposite occur and Manly crowds decrease after 2011.

Its 19.8 km from Brookvale to SFS...

We have to realize these teams need to be not tied to a geographic area anymore...

Look at Souths, look at Geelong Cats, they play half their games at MCG and average 50k...

being a manly fan doesnt mean you have to live in area

Once the teams get their heads around this... we can all move on

Manly v Souths would have got a bit more than 9603 at SFS or ANZ.

They would have got a heap more at the central coast where the two teams have hit 18-20 quote regularly, but instead the chooks have taken us up there and kept Newcastle at the sfs it's mind boggling how stupid this is.

They have now opened the southern end again as ga. hope so.

People in Broncos jerseys everywhere around King George square and central. Looks like heaps of families are making the trek down from the northern suburbs which is awesome

Anyone know the PAX for the remainder of the games this week. I have plenty of faith in CBUS being packed tonight. Is the weather good?

They are advertising the roosters v warriors game on Facebook as the only game of NRL on the central coast this season?

What happened to all the other games they normally have there?

The draw originally had this game at Allianz and Rd 9 v the knights at the Central coast but these seem to have swapped?

How long does it take to drive those 19.8 km on a Thursday or Friday night?

Probably up to an hour each way?

Comparing AFL crowds to NRL crowds is not comparing apples with apples, AFL supporters are way more parochial than Sydney NRL supporters so what works for them doesn't necessarily work for us.

Somebody said the Roosters have averaged low crowds but don't they play at a decent modern ground?

Using Souths and Canterbury to back up an argument of playing at major stadiums is also flawed, they are bigger clubs than Manly, Cronulla, Penrith etc and would get decent crowds regardless of where they play even at Belmore for example.

EPL clubs play at suburban grounds and I would rather see the NRL and the government spend the money on upgrades for our suburban grounds.

There is no evidence that supports increased crowds in Sydney by moving teams out of their own area, I guarantee crowds for teams you want to move will decrease.
