2016 Crowd Watch

How many Sydney teams are avg 17k plus? How many games are more than 20k crowds in Sydney? Modern all seater under cover 20-25k boutique stadiums should be the future for NRL in Sydney, they have pretty much given up on seriously meeting their KPI on crowd growth by agreeing to ridiculous Schedule for tv. Accept most clubs are never going to crack 20k in next few decades and build stadiums that don't look like no one watches the sport.

This is the first sensible thing you have ever said on LU. WELL DONE!

hey frank isn't an upgrade to shark park in the dark a part of the development proposal (one that we fund)
I would be wondering what the scope for real improvements could be at the ground.
you could extend the ET stand all the way each side as an example.
also do some kind of seating on the PB hill areas (like terraces etc). that's been in plans.
but given there are still powerlines running over the top of the hill the ability to put a grandstand there is pretty minimal I would have thought

also, the southern stand was built too far back/not high enough as you have previously said.

so I wonder how much money we would need to make real improvements to the place. maybe it would be more cost effective to make minor improvements to seating, upgrade amenities and maybe play 10 games there and 2 at sfs to showcase the club.

id also question what ability we had to get federal /state govt funding given its a privately owned venue and how much the tax payer really should pay.

Brisbane folk have sold the Suncorp double header to single seats only. Awesome considering Broncos members had to purchase seats.

Restricted view to come on sale soon, pax would be roughly 49k.

Wish the NRL would look into double headers at Sydney once a month or something

Have atleast 2 big Sydney teams play out of the SFS promote the shit out of it aim for a sell out or 50k+ at ANZ

for example:

Bulldogs vs St George
Souths Vs Eels

Month later
St George vs Sharks
Parramatta vs Tigers/Penrith

Etc etc. have it on a Sunday afternoon aswell

Can't be the worst idea on the planet

Dislike double headers, if anything it's a indictment against the code that it takes 2 games for fans to show up. If they can't be bothered to attend one, and need more to show up.

The other codes don't rely on double headers to get supporters to show I recall the double headers for a finals in Sydney drew embarrassing numbers for a finals. If they didn't show up for a finals why would they show up for a regular season double header.

Kind of a negative way to look at it. It's more about making it an event thing, watching 2 games for the price of 1 etc etc plus lower prices/special offers , repriocal rights for all sets of members

Have one game kick off at say 2pm followed by one at 4pm

The NRL already uses Good Friday and Easter Monday clash to get people from the Easter Show , no other code does that

Devalues the game having 2 games for the price of 1. Double headers is desperation for getting crowds.

Good job by the locals.
Plenty of fans travelling interstate too.

Ehhhh devaluing the game would be doing it every week.

I don't see the problem in doing it once a month/every 2 months or so, doesn't seem desperate for crowds to me

Yeah double headers must be strategic. A Saturday night.

I think most people will be in there watching the Storm v Cowboys game before Broncos v Manly.

Whats the point in having a double header if suncorp is sold out a month in advance, so many people are going to miss out.

If games held separate

Broncos vs Stg 35
Cows vs Storm in Townsville 17k - 20k

That is more than Suncorps capacity.

The double header in Brisbane on May 14th is a Brisbane away game against Manly and a Storm home game against Cowboys.

Manly vs Brisbane at Brookvale would get 10-14k?
Melbourne vs Cowboys at AAMI would get 15k?

Getting 50k for two games that would fail to get 30k...

Wow that is great, didnt think the NRL/clubs would think outside the box like that well done to all involved.

Are Manly and Storm splitting the gate?

Its funny Manly can move a game to QLD but not across to a refurbed Alliance or rebuilt ANZ......

Bought 10 tix for the double header for a big boys weekend of boozing. Thank god i did it a month ago, good to hear they've nearly sold out.

Yep, Storm and Manly split the takings.

Seats on aisles, held in groups of two for wheelchair minders have just been released. If anyone is chasing tix, these seats have cup holders haha.

Double Headers will be hard to incorporate into people's memberships at ANZ / Allianz, especially with like 5 teams using it as a home ground. How do you cater for all the allocated seating members for both home teams etc? I guess you could make it the home game of a team not based at ANZ :$

I would rather us look at a Sydney blockbuster every Sunday at 2pm at one of the 2 major grounds. And on top of that, build up the Easter weekend even more while we can take advantage of the Easter show. Needs to be a game on Saturday at the very least, and possibly sunday as well

Apparently the western Sydney giants got 13k to a 16k ground despite half the seats looking empty, I wish we had their crowd counters at our games, we would have had 20k at parra, 18k at belmore and 16k at Campbeltown. If we employ some afl counters then we are sure to hit the 20 k mark

Broncos pax - 31,302.

Take 3,000 off this for GA awesome foursome members who obviously will not elect a Thursday night game.

Take 3,000 - 5,000 absent ticketed Broncos and Stadium members.

Andrew Voss just tweeted that expected crowd tonight is 28-29,000.

Also, there is a general "2 for 1" ticket deal for tomorrows Bunnies v Roosters match. Ticket sales sluggish there too?
