Melbourne's ticket sales look pretty bad too - with us and the Cronulla game, its as if the edge of another big game has been taken.

I can recall several underwhelming week 1 crowds in Newcastle. Not sure why it struggles.

The Nrl need to seriously have a second look at the Finals stadia policy. Both for Canberra being able to host in week 3 and maybe just allow the Sydney clubs to have the suburban option in week 1, especially against out of town teams or circumstances like Sunday when there's a lack of willingness from the home teams fans travel the distance.

I just had a look for Panthers vs Bulldogs tomorrow, just for something to do not a fan of either.
Cheapest I could see was $25 for an adult.

When was the last time we had a Week 1 final in Newcastle? 2006? The early 2000's Johns era? I'm pretty sure they would have all been close to if not sell outs. It was a different stadium back then. Odd comparison to make.

Sorry it autocorrected from Melbourne to Newcastle. Not sure how that's even possible haha

Hahhahahahaha, that is a good autocorrect.

In that case, yeah - Melbourne can be a bit eh around Final time in Week 1. I suppose everyone knows that there will likely be a game in Week 2/3 so they save money?

There has just been 2 big crowds for the storm and there will be another chance to watch them either in week 2 or 3. The fact that there will be 4 or so 20K crowds in Melbourne in such a short period could be a factor but it's a pretty poor excuse IMO.

Storm ticket prices $75 or $50 for side stand seats
$25 behind sticks. Not hard to see why the stadium is always full at the ends and sparse in the middle!

the crowd at ANZ today is depressing from an NRL perspective. We need to drop ticket prices to $10 a head $5 for children until such times as attending the game is a habit.

It's disgraceful that the NRL gouges fans like that. They should want packed houses every week in the finals. Build up hype around the game. That's worth more than a few extra dollars from fans. Worse is that because stadiums are nowhere near full they won't even make as much money either.

It's the usual short sighted only care about quick bucks that is typical of the NRL.

Not sure ticket prices are biggest issue. Tickets to Souths gane at ANZ were dirt cheap, still no one turned up.
