Not sure ticket prices are biggest issue. Tickets to Souths gane at ANZ were dirt cheap, still no one turned up.

On a Monday night?
I'm pretty critical of the crowds in Sydney but you have realise the traffic in Sydney is unbelievable if it takes you an hour to get home after work which isn't unrealistic for many. I work less than 5k away and some days it takes me 20 minutes to get home.
Would you really want to go and sit in that traffic again?
If the NRL could pack them in on a weekend and make it a habit they would then get a percentage of those people starting to go during the week as well.

Thats the first I have heard of that and I bet no body else knew either. People just have a mind set that it costs a lot of money to go to a game - so they don't even think about going. If they want to build crowds then they need to decrease the ticket prices across the board for a sustained period (years) so that everyone talks about how cheap it is. If you have a season ticket for any club you should get into ANZ for free for any game (except Finals and Origin).
But at the same time they need to advertise the games more - especially the ANZ games.

Maybe they also need to go the longer game option where the clock stops when the ball is out of play. So that fans feel like they are getting more value for money. A 3 hour production rather than 2 hours.

I got the impression they were the usual prices for Souths games? From memory they were $25 for good seats and $15 behind sticks. You can't say that is expensive entertainment.

I live in Camden (Near Campbelltown) and most people I know out here don't go to games because they don't want to travel for more then an hour for a 2 hour experience. However I'm the opposite, I much rather league stay a 2 hour experience then turn into NFL. There is defiantly strong arguments for both sides.

One other argument for a longer game is that the forwards will get more fatigued.

Anyone gone to the Movies lately?

Easy to drop $20 odd without a discounted ticket in a shit cinema. More for posh 3D.

Or a gig? Blow cash easy there.

Not since they had the drive in where we would all pile in the dogbox of the vw for a freeby. Surprising how many kids you can squeeze in a pregnant rollerskate.

Going to guns and roses at ANZ in Febuary next year $180 a ticket I think it was.

Difference is they are one off events, we are wanting fans to go to a game every other week, and in Sydney's case most weekends.

60k at afl Sydney final, no pressure Bulldogs and panthers fans!

21,300 was underwhelming but the weather looked ominous which would have deterred a few people

If 20k panthers fans and 20k Bulldogs fans turn out tomorrow I think we wouldnt be underwhelmed. Why underwhelmed when 20k Storm fans turn up?

True but it is an afl city. Most NRL heartland clubs struggle to get 20k fans turn up.
Because they all take fans away from each other in the most competitive sports / entertainment market in the country?
