Re:Brooks & Moses.:I agree that brooks & Moses were in category of woods & teddy re potential. However Brooks has had 2 yrs in senior grade to show us what the massive hype associated with him was all about but thus far has been an abject failure. He has been substandard in every aspect of an organisers game.In contrast I'm expecting Moses to progress by leaps & bounds. This kid has definitely got it to be a star for us over the next decade. As I've said before I have more confidence in Moses being our steering wheel as brooks has been pathetic.

Brooks first year was amazing. Fairly average this year but I don't think it's all his fault. Too much has been heaped on him too early.

I was interested to know if anyone had been to training and watched how the team was going, who might be standing out and who might be a surprise inclusion come round 1? My brother saw them just before Christmas and I previously posted he said the two from Ipswich were going OK.

I know people like Gronkathon seem to have their finger on the pulse so I was very interested to hear any comments on the teams progression...particularly if their are any dark horses likely to get chosen.

Cheers....

I haven't seen anything first hand however have been told that Josh Addo-Carr is likely to start on our left wing. Beat korobietes 40m sprint record and has been great under he high ball.

This is a career saving or defining year for a some of our key players...

Nofouluma and Sironen have had plenty of time. They need to step up and produce consistently.
Moses and Brooks. A lot of talk and not much action.
Sue hasn't kicked on at all.
There's a lot of potential there and not much to show for it in their performances.

Lawrence in second row is make or break for him.
Grant. 3 clubs in 12 months. Perform or perish.
Plenty of castaways added this year too that still haven't cracked it.

Why are so many people crapping on all summer about the two Ipswich boys?
I've never seen so much interest in two reserve grade players.

Hope they make it but, geez, you can't expect two guys to come out of effectively Reggies and make an impact at NRL level. We have the worst backrow in the comp and they would still be down the pecking order behind Lawrence, Sironen, Halatua, Lovett, Joel Edwards and Chee-Kam plus promoted/promising juniors...

I don't think to many of us have any major expectations of the Ipswich boys more so we hope they can make a swift transition to the top grade due to our obvious lack of mongrel & depth particularly with regard to our weak backrow stocks !

As far as I'm concerned arguably our biggest concern is the massively paid no. 7 starting to earn his keep & prove that he is the real deal.He has given us 2 yrs of amateurish inept rubbish. His kicking game passing game & running game r substandard or non existent as with the latter. To top it of he's also our weakest defender.Moses after 1 full yr in top grade has him covered in all the above.

Charlie, I understand what you are saying but if those two from Ipswich are not ahead of Halatau, Lovett and possibly Sironen we are in huge trouble. Chee-Kam and Edwards are unknowns and Lawrence so far is our best option in the back row.

If those two are judged the best players in the team winning their comp and then defeating effectively the NRL reserve grade grand finalists I admit, I am a bit excited they may just add something to our team.

Surely they are not ahead of Sironen and Halatau. Personally I think rightfully so.

I still feel they may add something to our team.

Well Tiger05 my answer would be "possibly." What I can say is Halatau is at the end of his career and really isn't offering too much to the team anymore. Sironen, to date has been a huge disappointment, in my eyes anyway.

These two guys may never take the field in the NRL or they could be exactly what we are looking for. I guess my point is what we put on the field last year are not world beaters. Would Siro or Halatau make most NRL teams and my answer would be no, so these two are unknown quantities and that is what I am basing my hopes on.

JT will want to hit the ground running this season, so Grant, Edwards and Chee Kam will be in the 17, no point him saving up his recruits in case last years run on side doesn't perform again, ideally , he should find a spot for Rankin and Hunt also.
As for the Ipswich boys, they would be first cabs off the rank if either of Grant, Edwards, Chee Kam don't perform, if and when the season is over early then he can use Halatau, Lovett, Buchanan etc

He is solid and dependable , which isnt a bad thing. Lovett on the other hand is boring and mistake riddled.

I never meant this to be a love/hate thing about Halatau or any one else for that matter. I'm saying Halatau and certainly Lovett and to a degree Sironen are not necessarily going to win us games.

The fact of the matter is I don't know if these two from Ipswich will either. I am more saying Halatau, while a great team man isn't a match winner and with his age isn't going to further improve and therefore offer the team any progression. Lovett is a battler at best and sadly I can think of more times he has cost us games than won us games, I just can't see a huge improvement in him. Siro, well I just don't know. He could and I certainly hope he does, prove me wrong.

I don't know what these guys from Ipswich can and will offer. I just think they may be the x factor this team needs. We don't have anyone, not one player in our team that other teams would fear. Guys like JWH who are prepared to run the ball at a 1000 miles an hour are what we need...one or both of these guys just could be that. If you have a nickname 'madness' I am hoping that transposes into his attitude on the footy field (punching aside).

This is all just my opinion as an armchair critic....and a frustrated Tigers supporter that hopes we might just do more than is expected this year.:D

I hate criticising a bloke who gives his all, but I don't get the love for him.

How exactly was he "great for us"?

Tedesco was great for us... he was on his own.

This is a fair point. Halatau was nowhere near the level of Tedesco however Tedesco was special last year. He was one of the top players in the comp and easily our best player.

Halatua though consistently made metres for us up the middle or out wide and his defence was great. He isn't Tedesco but we are not going to get a team of superstars and no other team will get that either.

I can understand stating Lovett was ordinary because he offered basically nothing in attack and although his defence was okay it wasn't exactly great.

I think at the moment you have to find a spot for Halatau somewhere in the team.

Talk about setting the bar low.

Halatau is a good quality depth player for the bench.

Sironen is Paul's son.

I still think that Curtis may turn into a top line player. I just gave my thoughts on Halatau and I think he was great for us. I also didn't expect much if anything from Dene but he proved me wrong.

Curtis is a good sized backrower and he has a lot of skills. He isn't quick which may be an issue but I'm hopeful his overall skills let him develop into a good first grader.

I hope Siro doesn't become the next Daniel Fitzhenry of this forum. Like most of our kids, he has been burden with massive expectations based on unfair expectations. I have no doubt he will be a very good footballer and I think we will see plenty of good stuff this year, but you have to remember he is serving his apprenticeship in a pretty average team, not like he cut his teeth coming on for a couple short spells in the Dogs pack when the other team has been smashed from pillar to post.
