I do find it interesting, but not surprising that there are a few either picking the Broncos to either miss the top 4 or the 8 al together.

Broncos will be an interesting one I think. Either that last minute loss will make them more motivated to get there, or it will destroy them. They also had a very stable year this year especially injury wise and there's no way of knowing that will happen again. With the closeness of the comp injuries really determine a lot of the success or failure. Look at Penrith in the past two seasons.

I definitely have Brisbane in my top 4 for next year but I can see why some others may not.

Can you give us some sort of suggestion as to why you think Newcastle are anything but f**ked? Who have they signed? What is their squad looking like?

New coach and halfback will help. Also getting rid of the likes of Gidley, Roberts, etc who cost the team a lot of wins with their consistent brainsnaps. Might also be able to keep Mullen on the field for more than 1/4 of the season if we're lucky. We still won't do much next year but I think we'll improve. I don't think we'll come last again anyway.

It may seem a no Brainer that broncos as runners-up will be back better next year, but the trend over the past few years is for the runner up to be a huge disappointment. Each started the year expecting to be better for the experience, with young and exciting players they were expected to challenge yet again for the title. But the reality is the next year is always harder, injuries and suspension could have a bigger effect and breakout players come back to the field (hayne 09, carney 10, Johnson 11, barba 12, for example).
Just look at recent years
09 Eels: have not made the finals since
10 roosters: didn't make the finals the next year
11 warriors: haven't made the finals since
12 Bulldogs: came in 6th
13 Sea Eagles: actually came in 2nd but exited the finals in straight sets
14 bulldogs: came in 6th

I reckon the more relevant case study is the 2009/10 Dragons. Won the minor premiership, bounced out in straight sets, then basically tore the competition a new one and never looked like not winning it. That's the way I see the Broncos doing it under the same coach and probably an even richer squad of talent.

I can see the trend here, you place the teams that you like in the top 8 and the teams you really hate in the bottom 8, you also toss in that team you support in the top 4 somewhere

because half of these predictions are mind boggling

Haha, the fact the Storm are in my top 8 certainly puts to bed that theory on a personal level. I'd like them to finish 17th if possible.

If the Raiders were coached by someone other than the gimp they are, I might've considered them.

Especially when the best team in the comp were disqualified...

You're a knights fan and you placed your team in the top 8, seems about the same to me:?

It's all about personal opinion mozza. Some in here would have you think differently, being that they think they are more relevant than the rest.

To be fair 2 to 15 is personal opinion and 1 is wishful thinking. Stranger things of happened though.
