Saying two things:
1) The design didn't change that much over a considerable period of time (contra your claim of too many different designs)
It is a massive stretch to say that "without the colours, A and B are recognisably the same team"
Not even mentioning the 11 year gap between the 2 where the gold was instead used for side-panels and weird collar things!!!
2) I would say that their colours are the brand. Look at English rugby league or football. Teams can keep their colours and make completely different designs, but they are still recognisable as the teams. Yes, some teams will never be like that, but there are enough examples of regular (every season!) changes.
This is my entire point!!!!
The Broncos are still well ahead of most teams in terms of consistent branding, but when the only thing making them "the Broncos" is their colours.... and then they change their colours, there is absolutely nothing of them left.
They cant just say "our jersey is vaguely like one we wore 10 years ago, fans will know this". It shows that they either dont understand what their brand is or they just dont give a shit....
