Um, the home jersey from about 2003/4-2013 was pretty much the same, maroon with yellow detail. Only thing that changed was how much yellow (trim -> side panels -> side panels and arch over chest)

Im not sure if im reading your punctuation wrong. Are you saying their iconic brand is "Maroon with yellow bits on it"??

If thats what youre saying than you see the problem. Their brand isnt made up of shapes or designs (like StGeorge or Souths), theirs brand is the colour. So when they go and change those colours completely, there is nothing left of the brand.

This shows that they either dont know what their brand is or they just to give a shit (i dont know which is worse).

(if, alternative, you are saying their iconic design (excluding colour) is "a blank chest and stuff around the stomach" that is a stretch at best...)

Ideally your jersey brand would be colour and pattern, but at the very least colour. Some clubs, looking at you Panthers, still havent grasped either.

Wait, you were stabbing at Brisbane's colours?

Haven't they been maroon and gold since they joined in 1988?

I know they experimented with navy but the maroon and gold has never changed.

Wil round and neither the clubs or refs are in pink in either game today. We do these themed rounds half arsed.

Purple is the colour of Women in League Round. NRL changed it two years ago so they weren't pigeon-holing WiL as breast cancer awareness only, which is generally what pink is for.

Amazing you purport to know so much about rugby league but hadn't picked up on that (even the forum background is f**king purple!)

Purple is the official colour of Roman royalty and magistrates and sexual frustration

Saying two things:
1) The design didn't change that much over a considerable period of time (contra your claim of too many different designs)
2) I would say that their colours are the brand. Look at English rugby league or football. Teams can keep their colours and make completely different designs, but they are still recognisable as the teams. Yes, some teams will never be like that, but there are enough examples of regular (every season!) changes.
