The design definitely has nostalgia value but I would have liked a reduction in the number of accent colours. Having five club colours in a pallete is just asking for a fragmented identity down the track. Replacing the three colours with gold and the white stripes with dark grey would have been a nice transition from their current identity. Some Italian soccer teams add red/white/green accents in very small amounts and I wonder whether this would be an interesting look. Might look into putting out a concept, its been a while.
Except notI said the same last year some time...
They are finally onto a winner with this Black, White and Gold and all they need as a design to match.

Knowing the panthers though, theyll be green and brown by next year...
I think the gold was chosen purely for 50th anniversary and never intended to be a club colour so to speak.
Provided that jersey doesn't have too many modern gradient type things and stays more or less true to the 1991 original, i love it.
P.S. love your avatar![]()
New back sponsor perhaps? This was posted in the Panthers forum earlier today...
Yes it is but just pointing the difference between the playing and retail strips.
Anal much?
This is particularly evident with the Sharks, Eels and Titans - the two former had Infinity as sponsor on back top in parts of the season, Parramatta had them withdraw after cap drama and they then appeared on Cronulla's jersey recently. The Titans also signed Trip-a-deal who now appear on back top as well but not on retail version to the best of my knowledge. The jersey designs would have been approved around this time last year, and the manufacturing process not much later. Unfortunately, that means that any sponsorship changes , or sponsors that are not finalised, won't be on the retail versions. It also means that some on field jerseys have patches covering old sponsors or that are new sponsors. There are plenty of examples of this on the player issue jerseys, where the retail versions still have old / no sponsors present.
How can penrith keep changing their colours like that?
