Having another look at the draw, the chooks have away matches at all of the following:

Melbourne
Brisbane
Townsville
Gold Coast
NZ
Canberra

Can't be bothered going through the other teams so interested how many other clubs are in the same boat.

Well Souths are travelling to Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, NZ, Perth, Cairns, Newcastle.

Perth and Cairns don't count as they're self-inflicted.

I want to know why we're playing the Warriors minus our Origin stars in NZ two years in a two. That's a short straw right there.

Can't complain too much about the Cows Draw

NRL.com reckons it is one of the toughest, but that's based purely on the teams played - I don't think there can be much read into that - as Premiers and keeping the same team, they should be able to beat anyone on the day. Kept all 12 home games, plus picked up an extra one in Cairns (thanks Bunnies); and get to stay in Brisbane to play Storm (not VIC). No game in NZ either so all games are played in QLD/NSW/ACT.

Trying to clutch for some negative straws I could say that our Rd19 BYE is almost non-existent given that we play Mon (away) the week before, and Thur (home) the week after (10 day turnaround for a BYE week with a travel day in there). But that's about it.

As a season ticket holder living 400km away from Townsville, the 2 Thur and 1 Mon home games are a pain in the a$$; but the Mon game is during school holidays, and overall it's an improvement on last year. So all in all, life pretty good up North \\\\:D/

Leichhardt oval. Tigers v raiders last round, open the gates?

Tigers wiser to push for earlier season matches at Leichhardt. 4 matches there is too many anyway (unless they are top of table, which is well unlikely)

So the Roosters have the most 5-day turnarounds with 7. Manly are next with 5. Some clubs have none.

How is that possible? Staggeringly incompetent.

Cowbs draw is pretty good. Shame we aren't playing on the GC again this year, mainly for the Titans sake as it is generally a decent $$$$ game for them. Plus I'd like to wave hello to Neil Henry........

It's not incompetence, the NRL has made no secret of the fact that teams that finished near the top last season will get the bums rush when the work out the draw for the following season

Teams that ended up down the arse end get a kinder draw the following season

The idea is to make the competition as even as possible just in case some clubs are f**king useless at managing their salary cap and end up paying out half their salary bill to players who aren't even there.

If you win 3 Minor Premierships in a row - you're going to get f**ked.

If you're Brisbane - hello every game at home on a Friday night as the TV networks override the NRL's desire for an even comp.

Why do they not play more games on Sunday nights? I would have thought it would be good ratings and better for crowds than Monday's, Thursday's and Friday's at 6pm.

Sunday nights are just as stupid as Thursday and Monday nights and none of these days should ever see games played

Friday and Saturday nights are the only night we should use unless the following day is a public holiday. Midweek and Sunday night games are not family friendly and need to be avoided. Monday and Thursday games also clash with many people's working commitments. There are more reasons not to attend a game on those days than Friday, Saturday or Sunday and crowds will show this.

Friday at 6pm isn't that silly if the stadium is close to the town centre (work base) and most people knock off early on a Friday anyway.

It would work well in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney where the stadiums are right next to where the workers are. Knock off at 5pm, go straight to the game and then head home afterwards

If you have stadiums in more regional areas where people have to travel a distance to get the stadium (Townsville etc) 6pm Fridays are utterly illogical.

This isn't entirely true yet as some of those are rounds 21-26. It is likely though.

Thats not a bad draw for the raiders. Out of the small market teams we have the second most fta games behind the defending premiers (they have 6 to our 4). Looks like we are getting a small reward for playing exciting football.

Seems as if Manly and the Roosters are going back to the NRL with some grievances with the draw, as per 9 news.

Fair enough too, if the 3 games in 10 days for Manly, is correct.

Yep.

That's why Brisbane only get to face off against the Bottom 3 teams once (even though one is supposed to be a local rivalry).

No Sunday games, even though 1st vs 16th drew 37K.

All because the Broncos have the NRL in their pockets.

Pete, the consistent 7 day turn a round is the obvious benefit.

The NRL doesnt give two shts about crowds.

Channel Nine still think people are more interested in that Sunday night comedy show that goes for "60 minutes".

Newcastle get 4 home games in a row during Rounds 22-25.

When was the last time a team had 4 consecutive home games during the regular season?
