He looks a lot stronger this year and should continue to fill out and improve the lines he runs.

Yeo has quietly been very good this year, barely put a foot wrong.

I agree. Been really impressed with him.

The lines he is running have been really good and getting better each game. Reminds me of Waterhouse hitting the edge every time I see him.

It's what made Steve Menzies great. Run at the outside shoulder with a bit of footwork and it puts the defender in two minds.

He's one of our best forwards and at 21 (?) he has a lot of improvement both in body and mind. He will only get better.

Overall he's a level headed young man who I'd like to see lead the panthers in the future. I know Moylan is the golden child but Yeo is a core member of this team.

He's a great line runner. Ran some great lines in NYC just needs time in the forwards to get at that level

This made me realised thst we very rarely use the cross field bomb to the wing these days. Of course Mansour isn't a target and DWZ is decent but I wonder if Yeo could be a good target ala Cooper. Could really add a nice attacking dimension to his game although he's coming along great as is.

If your going the cross field bomb tactic you should bring in Josh Hall. His defense still needs some work but the kid can jump.

So can DWZ.. the problem is our halves its that simple, if you watched us beat the dogs last year in the finals you'll see what DWZ can do with a highball on offense :)

The problem isn't our halves. Like him or not Soward has a great short kicking game. It seems the game plan is grubbers not cross field bombs.

Hall was outrageous under the high ball against Mounties last week. If he ever played you would definitely have to pipe him bombs. No reason to play him just for that though I was more suggesting how we could make our game plan slightly more effective with a guy who has proven he deserves to be in the team anyway.

From Gus on twitter this morning:

Sounds promising, maybe he'll make his debut against the warriors. He's playing way too well not to get a crack especially since we are lacking a bit of spark in attack from our halves. His confidence would be pretty high at this point too. Cleary/Soward combo could be a winner

Surely if he's getting close to first grade they'd be playing him in NSW Cup for a few games at least.

Cleary was the no. 6 for the Junior Kangroos against the Junior Kiwis. He had a good game and scored a try that showed vision and a lot of strength. His body definitely looked like it could handle first grade (looks a lot like a slightly more solid version of his dad!)

Maybe if there's an injury, Griffin won't drop Soward, Wallace or Segs. More likely Segs plays 80 and Wallace and Soward are the halves or the same as last week, Segs starts on the bench and Cartwright plays five-eight for the start of the match.

This is playing against other kids his own age, just of a better standard than in Under20's presumably. But we are talking about putting him in first grade, against fully grown men. He needs some time against fully grown men of an easier standard than first grade as a next step, rather than just throw him in the deep end.

Remember what happened to TMM? He met up with one of the game's hardheads, didn't get the protection he needed, was hit illegally, and is out for the season with goodness knows what effect on his confidence. Expect Cleary to get similarly targeted.

Exactly... alot of people on here think the players that are playing Holden Cup are ready for first grade when infact it is the complete opposite.. they need to prove themselves against men and more exp'd players in NSW cup before they even begin to think about an NRL debut

Some can step straight up and some can't. Having a blanket rule is stupid

It's not a blanket rule.. you cannot simply make an assumption that they will do well in first grade typically playing against seasoned veterans and men in NRL as compared to playing against boys in Holden Cup.. big difference.
