Some can step straight up and some can't. Having a blanket rule is stupid
All the statistical data points to the fact that most don't. Therefore, to lessen the risk of a player getting hurt it makes sense to give them at least one game in NSW cup. Unless they are 6'8", 135kg and deadlift a VW Golf with a family of four inside, then maybe we skip that step.

I think Griffin is the best placed person to make that call. If he Goild decide to give him a shot are we really going to argue with them?

I don't know - the fact Griffin has done f**k all in first grade and the fact Gus talks absolute shit these days... why should we trust them?

Gould is the same as has always been you don't just lose his knowledge and experience. Hook might not of achieved much in FG so far but he been part of developing many good first graders at the Broncos, don't trust them if you want but let's not kid ourselves and pretend we have a better idea when Cleary or any of our young players will be ready then they do.

Because most here would rather trust the opinion of Griffin and Gould than you. They have more knowledge and experience than most of the rest of us combined.

I'm no positioning it as them vs. me, you dork.

It's more about questioning the fact that just because you have a position of authority, you know what you are doing.

Or do you consider Matt Elliott to be beyond reproach?

Again, let's not kid ourselves about the fact that just because they are in the position to make the decisions doesn't mean that the decisions will be the right ones. Pretty simple, no?

So we're all discussing whether it would be a good idea to bring in a new half like Norman right. Some thing we should stick with Cleary, Martin and Moylan as our long term options. Some thing we need to grab a Norman. Maybe Cleary is coming up to help with this very decision. He is clearly ripping up 20s. We don't know whether he is ready to convert that to the NRL now or if he's a year or two away. Give him a few games up when we have a decent run and we will certainly have a solid idea. Keep in mind we can run Wallace at half with Seg on the bench to have that spare experienced half in the side if he isn't handling it. It's a risk, but one that would be considered and could help determine whether we are in safe hands with Cleary and Martin both ready to go next year or whether we need to look for an option to improve the side over the next couple years. Worst case he isn't up to it and we shelter him while he's up and send him down to take the slow route while we plan around other options for a year or two. Best case, he is a natural and we can move forward with our future immediately.

I think it also shows the plan is for Moylan to stick around at fullback for the medium term and develop into a fullback who controls the game from the back as he is already increasingly doing. If all goes to plan at some point within the next two years we will have an incredibly talented halves pairing, who have been eased into first grade alongside two very experienced halves and have a season of experience. Then you have Moylan to take a bit of pressure off and allow them to take control as they grow into it.

Takes a childish attitude to resort to childish name calling when they can't support their own argument.

Where did I say anyone was beyond reproach????

Whilst I don't believe that Elliiot was a great coach, I would say he still knows more than you, as would most posters on this forum, even Rhyno.

I never said they always make the right decisions lol how ridiculous you are being. I said Griffin and Gould are better placed to make the decision than any of us, if you can't accept that there is something wrong.

He has to move the goal posts to even have a response. It's getting pretty sad when we can't even acknowledge Phil Gould and our coach know more about developing players then your average fan.

Now TMM's injured who's our backup half? That would be Cleary so like with any rookie they will find a way to play him a few times before the season's over

I have stopped replying to him. Kind of a waste of time when the goalposts are always moved

Murraymob, I have said that Elliot and most posters on here have more knowledge than Billy. Are we not actually agreeing?

Ouch, pulling out the big guns. I'm not sure I'll ever recover from this slight. Excellent work.

But my point is that it's a pointless line of reasoning. If we were to apply this to all discussions on the club, than we shouldn't be able to question anything. And it's logically unsound, an example of appeal to authority. Let's be clear - I have no opinion on Cleary at all. Is he ready? No idea. I'm just encouraging you to question authority rather than blindly kowtow to it.

Just like i find you saying anyone can make mistakes pointless. I'm not having a go at anyone for questioning it but questioning a decision and insisting it is wrong before it has been tried(if it is even on the cards) are two different things imo. Personally I think most kids if not all should go through nsw cup before FG but a small amount of kids can make the jump up and if Griffin or Gould decide Cleary is ready for a shot I'm not going to act like I know better. If it turns out to be a mistake than bag them for it but I'm willing to live with their call either way when it comes to our junior development even if they do make the occasional mistake we have been pretty good at it since Gould arrived, I don't think it's silly to have a little faith in their judgement.
