So Jarryd named himself in the all time 9s dream team? Ha. He also named Tim Mannah who has never even played a nines game.

I'm liking the new buzz words 'running playmaker'. I think it may overtake 'middle half' in 2017.
Yep used this term about 12 months ago when describing the difference between a running playmaker and an organising player. The usual dopes on here became hysterical with their indignation but like so many times before some of those same 'great Rugby League brains' now freely acknowledge the difference between the two styles of players.
I am sure half the posters on here must be about 16 years old and still have a hell of a lot to learn about this great game.
LU is good for getting info on the lower grades though from a handful who must get down to their training runs.

'By all reports'. It's just typical footy fan wishful thinking that a bloke they've never/hardly seen play will be a better option than the incumbent they don't like because he's not flashy enough.

'By all reports' Fogarty is a chance of being our 9 as well. :gapinganus;

It's not wishful thinking from me you dumb merkin. I watched him play at Wenty most weeks last year and think he is out of his depth even at reserve grade level.

Not by all reports.
Maybe by some reports, but definitely not all of the reports I have read.

Mind you I haven't read alot of reports.
When I say 'all reports' I just mean all the ones that agree with my opinion that De Gois is shit and that King and Fogarty will be the opposing Origin hookers this year.

So Pou, can i ask you if you dont rate either Norman or Gutho as halves?

If so, we may be screwed.
I rate Norman as a half, but he is not the elite first receiver that the top teams have. He is still a good first receiver, and he is certainly a better all round attacking player than guys like Cronk and Thurston, due to his superior running game.

As for Gutherson, he is a first grader, with some kicking and playmaking skill. He is also an excellent defender. I think we can still win plenty of games with him and Norman in the halves, and our defence should be very strong. And we get plenty of playmaking out of Ma'u and Edwards. Our only weakness will be our kicking game.

I think most people on here don't rate any of those players. There are some idiots on the other site talking them up however

People have been aware of the difference between running halves and not-so-running halves forever, The point is that is is very difficult to get the best out of running halves in the modern game, which is why the best ones end up at fullback.

Why do you think Griffin tried Norman at fullback before he came to Parra? Because he's got no idea?

Thats a pretty accurate description of Normie, he needs to work on things to get to the elite level of playmakers.

That Ponga kid is the best young player I have seen since Hayne burst on the scene in 2006.

I had to laugh when Cronk suggested that he would barely get a game this season, what a waste to let him rot in the 20's just to prove a point. They can win another comp with him this year as their x factor. Especially how Coote plodded it up at the back end of the season.

We lacked direction in the semi against the panthers, too much one out stuff instead of promoting the ball and looking for offloads, think the problem was we won the first few game simply by doing that and then Norman played out the back to try to create and soon as he was gone he had no attacking options. The game against the Seagulls we should have lost we played very average again without Norman.

Benji seems to be a popular subject of the descriptor:

From the DT in 2013:

Once regarded as the best running playmaker in the game, Benji now ranks among the worst. He is just ahead of Penrith's Luke Walsh, who has never been known to terrorise sides with his breathtaking bursts.

And from some other merkin in 2004:

That's his style though, he's a running playmaker type halfback rather than one who merely concentrates all his energy on passing as quickly and as accurately as he can from scrums, rucks, mauls and lineouts.
