Cheaper option is just give everyone an umbrella when they come in. Sorted, no more low crowds due to rain on the grass hills.

One of these each and no need for a fabric roof. It's the future of live sport I tell you! Billions saved on stadium roofs.

Maybe BUT who pays, NRL, the Clubs or the State Government. Of course their is insurance issues and who hired help hands them out. My umbrella's only last one year....... better to put a fabric roof on,
like this .......

Just confirming, and I don't want to search for an old thread, but the NRL decide kick off times for week 1 of the finals based on crowds/the whims of channel 9 don't they?

Theres no set policy in place?

And weeks 2 and 3 are Friday and Saturday nights yes?

I have two weddings to go to on the Saturdays of week 1 and 2 of the finals. Of course Parramatta pull their finger out for the first time in 8 years when people decide that they are willing to be seen with me in public.

The Fans survey has just came out in today's Telegraph newspaper and The fans unanimously voted 66 percent for Surburban grounds over the concrete eyesores ANZ and Alliance..

I have been baged on here by a couple for liking the older grounds.. The fans overwhelmingly want revamped Suburban grounds.

What if the government upgrades the suburban grounds and lifts the capacity to 20k.

I believe the Gosford stadium should be the blueprint for future 20k capacity.Not too big and not too small.

A similar ground would be great at Brookvale.
Ovals are shit for Rugby codes plus Concord Stadium is wasted.

Brilliant plan...

All youre missing is the $10billion to upgrade the stadiums and local transport links. But im sure that will be easy to get around. The game has only failed to achieve this for 40 years now.

The upgrades could be costed under $15 million each. People Already get to these grounds. Six grounds
Fans want it, increase the capcity to 20k, right on top of the action looks and sounds great on TV.

you're ignoring the annual costs to maintain all these grounds.

I just read online that ANZ stadium is considering Unreserved sideline seating (first in gets the best seats) on the side the cameras are facing.

Children in for free and Adults tickets capped at $25.

Sydney v Sydney clubs in daytime slots.

Good news indeed if this comes true.They might actually be listening to us fans after all.

Riiiiiiight....

Well (just for reference), in 2010 it cost $25mil to get just this at Kogarah:

- A new northern grandstand with 1,372 undercover seats;
- New toilet and concession facilities;
- New change rooms for first grade and Under 20s players;
- New corporate area and boxes; and
- A new museum and merchandise outlet.
http://www.nrl.com/$13-million-govt...ee-oval/tabid/10874/newsid/60603/default.aspx

So with a little over half that money (and considering inflating construction costs), maybe you get the new toilets and the change rooms. BRING ON THE TSUNAMI OF FANS!!! (Ill also point out that, with this big redevelopment at Kogarah, they are still averaging under 12k at the ground)

So tell us more about how putting cheap bandaids on suburban grounds will bring in the fans.....

You must missed the part that i wanted to cover the hill at the suburban grounds. Since to the TV cameras always point towards them and the crowd have to put up with elements why not cover the hill.
See link. This sort of coverage is not expensive .

Plus you could terrace the hill to create personal bays. Landscaped (to create flat/standing areas) with artificial grass with seating and leaning-on rails, Couldn't Be Better. You could individualise the seating via numbering. So you sold a ticket to a specific area.

Annoying it has taken so long, but this is exactly what needs to be happening...

U16s tickets should never be more than $5. Im happy to spend an assload getting myself into the ground, but whenever i was taking my little cousins, their tickets would as up f*cking quick.

The NRL would be better off considering them investments; get them into the habit of attending when theyre young and they will be happy to pay whatever when they get older. And parents would appreciate not spending a morgage taking their kids out for a night.
