I thought this is what Sydneysiders wanted too
suburban grounds
can't get enough of them

seesh ......

Seriously champ you've lost it.17,268 and not much room left in the stands and hill areas.LIve on FTA.And you guys played with no FTA ,6pm close to the city.Overwhelmoing support from Shark's fans .

You guys playing to keep your semis hopes alive, the Sharks at worst 6th spot. You need to check your backyard.

Lol week 1 is looking atrocious for crowds

As it stands

Melb v Parra 20k
Roosters v Brisbane 17k
Cronulla v Manly 20k
Penrith v Cowboys 18k

Best case scenario crowd wise would be something like

Melb v Brisbane 25k
Roosters v Parra 30k
Sharks v Dragons 23k
Penrith v Manly 20k

Yeah me and 35.000 other people u derp

I hate the f**king game.. but respect that they know how to mobilise people .. why can't we learn how to do it .. ?

Our games just not that popular. Mostly because the people, running it and the people writing about it are useless tw@ts!

there was room , the place holds 20K
we know that , the cowd was ok , but should of been a fullhouse in perfect conditions
& you can't be serious about our back yard ?
the back yard of a team that won't be playing finals that beat the back yard of the defending premiers
easily ....

is that the back yard you're reffering to ?

it doesn't look promising with too many small Sydney teams who's fans don't travel playing out of town sides at either ANZ or Allianz
thats a recipie for disaster but the luck of the draw too

the solution is cheap as chips tickets for non members & all junior passes & memberships getting you a seat for free

Has alot to do with presence in schools as well! AFL has presence in all sectors, public and private schools alike! Rugby league only has Public school presence and that in itself is relevant to the demographic of where the school is situated in many places. This impacts interest in the Nrl as well! Its evident that development is being maintained in areas rugby league are comfortable with and not happening in areas that rugby league has wrongly abandoned in past years.

Roosters/brisbane would get more than that. We got 20k in the same fixture against storm in 2015 with no away support. Brisbane are historically good crowd pullers at SFS.

If it does happen and it is a Friday, 25k IMO

After Melbourne Origin games or generally? Warriors on Anzac Day?

As in regular nrl games

Warriors play on an event day, not sure if that really counts. You could probably chuck tigers or something on and they'd pull a similar crowd

Melbourne should have a couple of bumper crowds coming up. No AFL next week and they're promoting Storm v Raiders as "the only game in town". It's also possible that there won't be any AFL finals played here the following week (assuming Geelong v GWS is played in Geelong) which would mean another week of clear air for Storm's first final.

Umm, there's a 99% chance Richmond will play a game in Melbourne during the first week of Finals (both AFL and NRL).

If Richmond win today they will most likely finish 3rd and play against Geelong at the MCG (only way Richmond win and finish fourth is if they lose percentage in a win-- which to do that is like a 210-209 scoreline, super unlikely).

If Richmond lose today they will finish 6th and get Home final against one of Melbourne, Essendon, West Coast, St Kilda at the MCG.

The place could hold 20,000 if everyone was breathing down the necks of everyone else.It had 20,000 when they had the dance spectacular ,and people complained about the congestion and discomfort.

OK I'll spell it out for you.Only single seat were available. The main hill area you could barely move ,ditto sideline and end standing areas. Most suburbans clubs would kill for that crowd as would your mob.You do understand not every ticket holder attends every game.
The club was more than happy to fill the joint, bearing in mind live on FTA.12-13,000 breakeven, rest profitable.

You mean the team with just about an all seater stadium, where those honest politicians roam, who we thrashed and continued on to win the G./F.Yeah that backyard team.

Yeah funny that ,we've been playing the most inconsistent and dumb times football this year, yet got 17,000 plus to the game.Must be something about our backyard ,having thousands prepared to stand in discomfort to a watch team playing like park footballers at times. And they don't need the viking clap to do it.
