shouldn't be a seat spare at AAMI next Friday night
what eva the joint holds .. 30,050 I understand is the actual capacity
then it should get it , if only for Cronk & his last game in Melbourne

I know hes broken many of our hearts on many occasions , but he deserves a big send off & Melbournians wether they like our game or not , should acknowledge what an absloute sporting champion he has been. He is first class & Im sure Broncos fans down there on Friday will stand & applaud him aswell.

Have the Storm ever eclipsed 30k at AAMI before?

You would think parra fans would pack the joint out being their first finals appearance in sydney for 8 years and being sudden death and being one of the biggest NRL clubs.

Considering this, the crowd will be around 25k.

It will be the Daniel Alvaro factor that will pack them in.

Any word on ticket sales? Hoping for 30K plus, would be pretty cool if they could outdraw the broncos.

It should sell out. The broncos are one of our biggest drawing teams. Regardless you'd like to think that a prelim would go close to selling out at AAMI regardless of any other factors.

I'm not convinced it's even possible.

so the tally of the quality of the finals so far

NRL 4 belters , 1 close & intruiging
AFL 4 Stinkers , 1 belter

Have you watched all the games from both codes? There is a lot more to a quality game than just the shoreline.

Ultimately it's the fans who decide how good a match is and judging by ratings and crowds the fans seem happy with what the AFL is dishing up even if we think it's dog shit.

the quality of the match ups is what I meant or lack of a contest which is what you'd want if your club isn't involved.
Games over before halftime usually are dog shit truth be told anyway ... one side being uncompetitive from the start does not make for entertainment , the only people happy with this would be the fans of the side dominating , with neutrals & obviously fans of the losing side not enjoying it at all
thats what the AFL have served up.
The AFL is a cult , their dopey fans would watch a turd dry if you put a singlet on it
And I again draw your attention to the strange phenomonen of the AFL's ratings in the regionals
growing exponentially for .... no .. apparent reason in recent years.
Again for last night
515K for the NRL on pay & fta combined
420K for the AFL
we have double their population outside of the metros , Im sorry , Its dodgey!

I agree that generally blowouts aren't that exciting for neutral fans or fans of the losing side. Regardless the AFL don't seem to be affected by this at all looking at crowds and ratings.

I'm not sure what's going on with the regional ratings. Though I'm not sure it's that relevant. In general this is getting reeeeally off topic.

Broncos get a good crowd in a great stadium...

Good thin we have 9teams in sydney and only one in Brisbane, we cant have our teams being too successful or anything.

Hopefully they can get a sell out at AAMI Park. Up against the Broncos, plenty of International and Origin players, Cronks last game there.

Most importantly no AFL in Melbourne that night. There game is in Adelaide.

The game in Sydney on the Saturday night should be on its own. The AFL Prelim will most likely start 4 or 5ish.

Real chance to get some good crowd and TV numbers.

so what did the Matildas get ?
17,000?
i notice they had a dig in the SMH ( fairfax press) saying that might beat the wallabies tonight in Canberra

but didn't mention it might also beat the Midgets just up the road too
gee I wonder why ?

Hopefully the Matilda's get a good crowd in Newcastle this week. Going along with a lot of friends. It's great seeing the profile of women's sport increasing, let's hope the NRL get on board soon (I know we have the World Cup and other matches but a proper NRL style season would improve its profile massively).

Edit: interesting that it's being reported as a sellout crowd when only 15K people were there in a stadium that holds about 20K.

should yes
121,000 is the biggest weve had in a single weekend in finals in 2011 week 1
that had a 46K in Sydney & a 49K in Brissie though
christ where have those days gone !!

we had 115,500 to the 2 prelims in 2010
thats the highest average for a weekend outside of a GF at 57,750

Big Sydney clubs in the finals in red hot form are key. If we had a combination of Tigers, Parra, Dragons, Bulldogs, Brisbane, Newcastle, Canberra and Melbourne crowds would be huge

Imagine a week 1 of

Tigers v Dragons 45k
Bulldogs v Parra 50k
Brisbane v Melbourne 50k
Newcastle v Canberra 30k

That's also a dream hypothetical of course lol

the difference being nearly everyone paid for a ticket at the soccer & rugby
while
hardly anyone will at the fudgets game lol

My mate who works in Sydney reckons some guy came in and was handing out free tickets like hot cakes

And that's just 1 smallish kinda business. I could imagine 1000s of free tix get given away in Sydney & probably Melbourne too
