Thats atrocious. Gould pretty much told his fans not to turn up in his article yesterday. That didn't help.

Fair contrast in Sydney this week

Gould spat dummy told fans not to go abused nrl etc.. no media for game

Swans and Gws did a combined press conference with players coaches and captains

Wonder which game will get a bigger crowd

Well, there's a reason why there were no regular Saturday arvo matches during 2003-Rd 20 2013 and why I have never been a fan of them.

This has always been a problematic timeslot for attracting crowds due to work and kids/school sport. People talk about the good old days of when ABC televised it live back in the '90s, but crowds in Sydney were mostly sub-10k and tv ratings were poor. Sat arvo footy was rightly scrapped in 2001 for the 5:30pm timeslot, reintroduced in 2002 before being canned for more than a decade after clubs didn't want to host in that timeslot and crap ratings on Fox.

It was reintroduced in the last few rounds of 2013 as a compromise for fans wanting more day games, but any additional day games needed to be on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Anyone with a teen playing footy would be pushing it uphill to get to this game.
I never understood that have a NRL/ARL game on at the same time the junior/senior and social amateur Rugby League is on.
In a perfect world senior amateur Rugby League be a Friday night, junior Saturday lunch time and semi pro Saturday afternoon with one NRL game at night and the rest of NRL games played on a Sunday at 3pm.

There is no Sunday 2pm tomorrow ..

Surely we are fair enough past summer now

No. To me Saturday afternoon is perfect to attract fans in the 18-30 bracket which is thr backbone of s
14,070 at ANZ
13,878 at Townsville
12,397 at SCGS

Diabolical crowds continue. The Nrl and media partners have put thr game on a slippery downward slope from which I see no recovery barring drastic changes.

The only positive I can see is a reconfigured Olympic Park but that is 5 years away I would think. By then God knows what the average crowd will be, this year could so easily dip below 14k. If the Anzac day game in Sydney doesn't draw a full house or near enough to it, it's safe to say the game has lost it after poor Easter holiday crowds and continued all round poor attendance.
