9585 @ Allianz.... sheesh
15,559 @ Townsville ...... meh

the embarrasing to mediocre continues

if full houses aren't posted at Penrith & Cronulla next week then there is officially something very wrong with the NRL in Sydney

NRL need to get an understanding of the Newcastle people and find out what gets 16000 to a game where they had little chance in winning

I thought Tigers were supposedly a well supported side, regardless of it being an away game and on a Saturday night. I guess if it's not Leichhardt on a Sunday arvo they don't care

That's a decent crowd in Townsville. They're missing half their team and their season looks to be all but over. That plus it would have been all cowboys fans.

The Sydney crowd yet again is straight up pathetic. 2 Sydney teams facing and one of them is probably 2nd or 3rd favourite to win the comp. Sub 10K for that is just ugly.

How many years is this going to shock us for ?

Why do nrl fans assume history will all change in one day ?

If you had to have a bet on today's sfs crowd based on cold hard facts .. 10k is what it gets every day of week

Why would the Government even want to interfere in a business's income model anyway?

Well I believe it happened in England to protect non EPL sides.
No TV 3 o'clock Saturday games means people go to local games rather than sit in the pub watching EPL all day.

Was at newcastle, healthy crowd for a team battling in 16th most of the season. One thing though, i had not been to hunter stadium in a couple of years and haven't the prices shot up! $29 for general admission and then $43 Cat 2 at the gate is just far too much. I only had to pay at the gate because the ticketmaster website is hopeless and would not let me confirm my purchase! I HATE ticketmaster

Pretty confident we will have 4/4 sydney crowds under 10k with only canterbury v manly to come and at ANZ as well. If that doesn't highlight the problems that need addressing to the NRL and broadcasters then nothing will.

The Roosters crowd was one of the worst of the season imo, not the worst time slot in the top 4 and versus a sydney team, no excuses just pathetic. Honestly the club needs to make a hard decision and play the majority of games up the coast, i just don't see long term prospects for us with crowds like that in these circumstances. At worst a 8/4 split of games in favour of gosford and at least sydney based fans will have the away games to attend.

That's what happens when you f**k fans around. As soon as it became clear there would once again be no expansion for at least 6-7 years the fans here said a big FU. Fortunately grass roots hasn't been infected by the nrl's apathy and we have seen a number of new clubs starting up over last two years.

If what you are saying is true then do you support stopping these games?

What's the point if Perth has given up?

Should they still get the Origin game? .

I don't think they are going to stop playing games in Sydney though... Do you?
No. But if you point to a city with no NRL team and say "why bother?" when it's the incompetence of the game's admin that they have no team you can't ignore the fact Sydney's crowds are embarrassing and they have NINE clubs. Why question Perth when it is definitely not the problem? If Souths and Manly take those games out of Perth and back to Sydney they'd get f**k all to them, and it would the same f**k all Sydney fans that show up every time. At least Perth's fans are unique, however many there are. And that's another thing people don't get. It's not just about how few fans show up and it's also how few new and different fans show up. This weekend there would be almost no one going to a game that hasn't already been plenty of times before. There's no growth and no interest in growth.

Perth Red is saying that the reason that the crowds in Perth have dropped from 15k to about 7K over the last 2 years is because the locals that would normally go to the games have recognised that there is no new Perth NRL team on the horizon...apparently the two games themselves can't be enjoyed for what they are if they don't ulimitaley lead to the goal of Perth getting their own team in the near future...

If this is indeed the case ( I am dubious myself) , then it seems pointless to me to persevere with these games, particularly given the added expense involved in flying the teams over from the East or Auckland...
