gf crowd 68997

Lol. It will sell out. Neutrals will go. The classic underdog coming from 8th playing the NRL's top performing club is attractive from a sports fan point of view. Their is a 'bad guy' v 'good guy theme' to this gf. The cowboys will harness Australia wide support and storm will have Victoria behind them .

If you leave out the the split Super League/ARL season of 1997 this weekends preliminary final crowd figures are the lowest for the round since the game went went to two games in 1995.

well stop bitching unless you're at the game
Ok I'll take your bait.
I lived in Melbourne for 13 years. For the last six years I missed 3 games in Melbourne, one of which was for my wedding. That was despite the fact I don't go for them. At the same time, I had a fully ticketed membership with wests and saw a minimum of 4 games a year. In Sydney.
I moved back to wagga this year and took my daughter to 5 games in Sydney and two in Melbourne. Both cities are 4.5 hours away.
So I think I've earned the right to bitch.
I love this game and want to see it do well. If that upsets you, you're going to have to deal with it.

Bloody woeful crowd. I have always been an optimist about our game but 2017 has been dire.
Having said that the only way that the make up of the finals could have been worse crowd wise is if the titans Swapped places with parra. Grand final could be a real embarrassment.
We need some good news soon or I fear we head for the dark days of the late 90s/early 00s where so much of the conversation about the game was negative. Hopefully the early rounds of the World Cup are as fun as I think they will be.....

What a massive overreaction. The only reason the finals crowds have been down is because of the low drawing matchups. The NRL can't control this. If the Dragons had won in the last round the crowds would have been massive and no one would have anything to complain about. Some years finals crowds are huge, some years they are not.

Next week won't be 'embarrassing'. The footy has been awesome and the Grand Final will be too.

I'd like to make it very clear that I usually hold your opinion. I've heard people tell me that rugby league is dying for 25 years, despite the fact it has actually become clearly the second code in Aus and left its traditional rival in its dust. But I think that this year has been concerning.
I really hope my pessimism is unfounded mind you.

Exactly what I was thinking. The way the games matched up we kept getting at least 1 poor crowd drawing team versus another or at least 1 poor crowd puller..

Had Parra won last week we would have definitely had a sell out tonight..

I noticed last night with a full stadium this thread was virtually silent.. Some people love to whinge on here..

I was on here saying it was a good crowd last night! It doesn't take away from the fact that we had our lowest season average in over a decade and an all Sydney final with less than 20000 in weeek one of finals.
Will definitely give credit where it is due but there are issues when it comes to crowds that I think warrant discussion.
