I can't let this utter bullshit pass without refuting it. I can only assume you're bitter your side is going into the season as the only one without a sponsor on front?

Three insurance companies (none looking likely to collapse like FAI did under the HIH banner) are front of jersey in 2017. Youi are on the refs kit (taking over from AAMI), while NRMA (Broncos) and nib (Knights) are big players.

Two car giants are in there too - Toyota (Cowboys) and Kia (Bulldogs).

In terms of electronics and telecommunications there is Huawei (Raiders) a global producer of smartphone & technology, and Vodafone (Warriors), one of the biggest telecommunications providers in the world.

I don't need to elaborate on the wealth and financial power Crown (Rabbitohs & Storm) wield...

... or St George Bank.

As others have mentioned - Oak (Panthers) & Steggles (Roosters) are highly recognisable Australian brands produced by huge companies, and someone else mentioned that URM (Sea Eagles) expanded into the UK and make up a fair portion of the recycling market there.

That really leaves Brydens - who have the compo lawyer market cornered in Sydney and have shelled out $$ for sponsorship across multiple clubs in addition to being front of kit for the Wests Tigers.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that the codes major sponsors include Telstra, Holden and Harvey Norman.

Add to that Stadium sponsorships Suncorp, AAMI, GIO, Allianz, ANZ

Brydens has got that air of desperation. Kinda like stacks the law firm.

And the Toyota for nq is only the local dealer isn't it?

But other than that. Pretty big companies selling everyday things that the league audience can relate to. It's always been that way. Video ezy, db bitter, smiths crisps, etc

What do you prefer: paspaley pearls and Louis Vuitton?

Good point and most fans (or consumers?) will recognise OAK more than Parmalat, after all you can get an OAK at the servo but where can you get a Parmalat...????

Italy................

Parmalat used to sponsor one of the huge soccer clubs in Italy
They sponsored Parma in Italy - Boca Juniors in Argentina (the equal biggest club in the Country with River Plate) and Benfica in Portugal

They're hugemungous - but yes - the use of a local brand we all recognise is just sensible marketing

As a whole, the NRL it's doing considerably better for sponsorships than 10 years back. We still do get the occasional clanger though.

They also sponsored the Brabham F1 team in the 80s of course.

The annual schedule could look like this if say we started this year

2017 RLWC
2018 Kangaroos Tour outgoing
2019 16 team World Club Championship
2020 4 Nations
2021 RLWC
2022 GB tour to Australia
2023 16 Team WCC
2024 4 Nations
2025 RLWC

And so on, with still more regular Test football than we do currently and a major Club Comp which would surly get major TV and Sponsorship which would in turn help the game International profile

Not sure if this was mentioned among all the hand-wringing over the Marvel jerseys but it looks like Round 4 will be it for most, if not all of the 9 clubs involved.

I wish my club WAS apart of the ISC family so i could get one of these Jerseys.
Horses for courses my friend, and no issue with that.
I just feel for those whose club has swapped super heros...old jersey is useless now.

Useless in the sense that it is identifying your team, and your team only.

I think its weird that you have current Broncos as Iron man, but last year it was the Dragons.
As others have pointed out, club identify and brand has been compromised for the sake of the almighty 'ollar.

Each to their own i guess.

That's utterly absurd. People will wear them because they like them.
