And then there's the match-threads from previous games that prove a glass house is still made of glass, even if tinted maroon...

That article is about Phil Gould lol

Was like watching storm play in the 2nd half. Only way they could win was to slow the game right down. Wrestling was hilarious, offside and forward passes even funnier . Remember origin is all about QLD . NSW weren't allowed to play in the 2nd half and that's how they win . If cheechin refs the 3rd it will be the same result . If the game flows NSW win if the wrestle starts again they lose pretty simple.

100% agreed.

Qld were allowed to wrestle and lay all over the tackled player with impunity.

There were some of the slowest PTBs I've ever seen in that sexond half for NSW and yet not one penalty.

And then you have the blatant blockers and a handful of passes thrown a mile forward... all let go.

The agenda couldn't have been more obvious.

And yet still had Hayne and Graham not plodded it up the Blues would have won.

Phil Gould who plays both sides of the fence?

Who is famous for his "I just KNEW NSW/ Qld would do it tonight" post-match speeches while grinning like a Cheshire cat at his amazing foresight?

Who has blown smoke up the arses of Qld on how many occasions?

The funny thing isn't that Qld (players or fans) complain about the referees or demand changes to their team after a loss- pretty much anywhere in the world, in any sport, you'll find these sorts of arguments...

The funny thing is when they imply that doing this is a uniquely NSW trait and that they are supposedly above it.

The "we don't whinge about the refs" myth belongs on the same garbage pile as the "we pick and stick because loyalty" myth and the "muh passion" myth- hopefully soon to be joined by the "Mitchell Pearce is ready to have a big Origin series" myth...

Also Trobjevic needs to play more minutes or atleast start. Best NSW forward last night by a country mile yet he wasn't even on the field when we needed him the most

Perhaps he was taken off when he was feeling a bit fatigue, I'm not sure but looked dangerous when he was out there.

The other forward I was surprised didn't have a lot of game time in the second half was Klemmer, unless he was out there but didn't touch the ball much I don't know.

He was more noticeable in the first half when Woods and Fifita came off and really stepped up.

If he wasn't injured or tired he should've been out there earlier when the Maroons were getting the momentum, as it seemed like Woods and Fifita were buggered in the second half. The QLD players made half breaks around them.

The other thing that was a bit disappointing was that there were hardly any offloads. That's what NSW were doing in Game 1 and causing headaches for the Maroons.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were no changes but they need to change their game plan.

Well that was a great one game dynasty by NSW LOL. As a Queenslander this thread is a great read. It wasn't the refs, NSW just got outplayed. QLD stopped the NSW forwards getting easy metres up the middle so NSW tried going around the QLD defence and weren't good enough.

Please...

Once again QLD were dominated in the middle. And if the game was officiated the same way it was in Origin 1 then it would have been a hefty win to NSW.

It was their 'unshakeable spirit' and mateship that got them home this time.

With a bit of time to think about it now, I'd say I feel bittersweet about the game last night.

I'm frustrated as f**k that the squad couldn't finish the job and get that single try in the second half that would've broken Qld psychologically. I'm pissed about what a piggy-back Qld got from the refs and the fact that, apparently, there was no legitimate reason to award a penalty to NSW for the last 45 minutes of the game. Those north of the border can go on about salt and tears all they want (I know it's a nice distraction from discussing the future of their Origin team), but the notion that the refs favour certain sides isn't so ridiculous when you watch Knights games on a regular basis...

I'm not saying it was the refs' fault NSW lost. They definitely played a considerable part in it, but the reason I feel bittersweet is because last night wasn't a case of Qld blowing NSW off the park, as they often showed in years gone past. Barring Inglis, this is the best team they have available in 2017, and they were only able to win because NSW let them win. NSW let them back into the contest, strayed from the game-plan that has made them look dominant, and that was it. Qld looked very patchy throughout the game, by contrast. They'll be confident heading back to Brisbane for the decider, but they'll need to be far better than what they showed last night in order to get the win. How much game-time will Thurston have between now and then? He looked under-done last night. He needs as many games as he can get in the next 3 weeks, not more time off for surgery. Cronk, Smith and Slater? They were reasonable, but this series (and in Slaters' case, last night) they haven't shown the same menace as they have in years gone past. They'll all need to pull out a vintage performance for Game 3...

For NSW, they have less work to do than Qld over the next 3 weeks. They need to re-focus on the game-plan that's worked for them and re-find that discipline they showed in the series opener. No stupid hospital balls or clumsy strips in tackles. Keep looking for points, focus on completing sets, let the war of attrition take its' course and they'll have a distinct edge on this Qld side with 20 minutes to go. If the decider was in Melbourne or Sydney I'd be more confident of them re-grouping and winning. They can definitely win Game 3 in Brisbane, but I'm not sure if they'll be allowed to.

'Allowed' being the key word there...
Couple of points. I am happy to talk about the future of the Qld team. Not all the talent in the nrl belongs to NSW. There are a dozen or so young footballers across lots of nrl teams gaining experience and getting prepared for the next decade. I don't expect another ten from eleven, but we will at least win 4 or 5 of the next 10 series. Also your point about Inglis being the only missing qlder, have you heard of Matt Scott?

We will be better in game 3 if Thurston can miraculously get his shoulder right. Did you see Napa's improvement in his second stint last night? Expect the other new players to find their feet at this higher level in the decider. Can you imagine the destruction Holmes could bring?

PUUUUHHHH-LEEEAAASE

The standard was set in the first game - the media cheerlead "Origin" refereeing when the refs put the whistle away. How many high tackles were let go in the first game which would've been penalties in the regular season?

We praise it up as letting the game flow when the faster team win. QLD learnt from it and layed on the wrestle. It was inevitable.
