Any comment on your codes low crowd on Good Friday by the way?
My code?

Ive stated in another post that I in no way call AFL "my code", born and bred in NSW and moved to Melbourne to study, have been to 2 AFL games in 3 years purely just for something to do and because why not, Im a sport fan and can enjoy more than just NRL

But I would choose any Storm game at AAMI over an AFL game if it came down to a choice

So no I have no comment on the crowd for the Good Friday game, I don't know what it was, where it was played or who was playing

You idiots are making Sydney sound like one of the shittest places in the world to live (when if you can afford it, it's actually one of the best!) all to make pathetic excuses of why the NRL can't get big crowds like another particular sport can.

If people want to go and care about the team/spectacle enough they'll find a way to go.

Mate you need a new job! I wouldn’t sit on the freeway both ways every day!
No chance, it's the greatest workplace I've ever been in and allows me to keep the 15 acres my parents left behind so that I can retire to a massive property in 35 years.

You have to understand it's almost seen as a crime on here to like the other code.

Agree with all of the above about logistics in Sydney.. It seriously is not easy. Melbourne seems much more easier.

So the end result of al! that debate is sydney is sht? Lol
Clearly the nrl needs more clubs not in Sydney given the cities unsolvebale transport problems, poor geography, cosmopolitan sporting population and seemingly inability to ever draw consistently decent crowds by sound of it.
Wrong
Imagine 3 teams in Victoria?
That would be the end of Rugby league there.
Putting teams in joints that dont even follow footy is a waste of time

You can’t just invent passion for a team and sport.
I’ve been to 1 AFL match 1 game of cricket and zero soccer matches in Sydney.

The response from Perth and Dave et al will be, the crowds in Sydney are down so therefore Sydney lacks a passion for rugby league.
AFL fans are more passionate because their crowds are always better.

Simple thing is, everyone goes to sporting events in Melbourne. In Sydney not so much.

I know a guy who goes to all storm games, victory, some wnbl teams games and anything else he can. Multiple
Times a week.
It’s the culture down there.

If they get so so many people to AFL then why do they not have many many more NRL fans?
They are only marginally better than most Syd teams crowd wise.
They have the luxury of a much easier commute as well.
AFL crowds prove that.

there are plenty of places that do have enough passion for footy & would follow a team with just as much support as most poorly supported Sydney teams ( which is just about all of them )

Perth
2nd Brisbane
2nd NZ
Central QLD
Central Coast
Adelaide

they'd only need 12,000 odd fans for their home games to match most Sydney sides & they'd probably all do better then that

we're not talking about 6pm on a Friday
8 pm on a Thursday
wet inclement weather
you lazy slazy sods won't turn out on a sunny sunday at 4pm because its all too hard
well if that's the case theres no future for some of these Sydney clubs.

time to take it to people who appreciate our game & WILL make an effort
you can moan about how hard it is to go to games all you want , the game can't afford to carry excuse makers any longer
use it , or lose it

Too far
Too expensive to get there
Too dewy at night
Too many crazy drivers at that time of night
Too many dopey pricks on this forum to risk missing the game day thread

Need anymore?

Are you going to the raiders game on April 28?

I said places that don’t follow rugby league
Then you name 3 qld places
Nsw central coast
All rugby league areas

A NZ team debatable but the warriors suck so I’d imagine a 2nd NZ make them suck twice as much.

And then two joints who already had teams and were utter failures

You should be more concerned with your own joint

Funny you mention that because growing up on the north coast of NSW, the Titans were adopted by most kids and anyone who didn't fully support a team already, everyone kind of tried to ignore the fact that they were technically a QLD team come SOO time

Most of the local clubs were feeder/develpment clubs for the Titans as well

Ive always thought the Titans should market themselves as a north coast/tweed team as well as a GC team to try get even more fans from that area, It used to only be about a 2 hour drive to games but if they had taken some of their games to closer towns such as Tweed and Coffs Harbour a lot more would of been interested

Yes, I think the original sides (Giants and Seagulls) were called Gold Coast-Tweed. It is a good idea.

NRL tickets are not and have never been "substantially cheaper" then the AFL.

That's AFL propaganda.

Any comment on your codes low crowd on Good Friday by the way?

Maybe try not to sound like a goose when their Good Friday crowd got more that the NRL one. Both reasonable crowds, and focus should be on how to regularly hit that mark during the season, via the many initiatives mentioned inthis thread such as ticket prices, membership specials etc.

One person does not represent a population. Rival codes and sports are not targeting and engagement to rusted single minded supporters. Melbourne is not ready for two teams, yet, but creating rivalries in expansion cities can increase support over time.
