Another AFL troll.

Just because I don't have an unnatural and quite frankly embarrassing hatred for something they show maybe 5 seconds of footage of on the news per week doesn't make me an AFL troll.
Then again....on here....maybe it does!?

You yourself seem to know more about AFL than the majority of their fans FFS!
How the hell did you even know they had an embarrassing crowd on Good Friday?
Do you actually go out of your way to look it up?........lmao!

One person does not represent a population. Rival codes and sports are not targeting and engagement to rusted single minded supporters. Melbourne is not ready for two teams, yet, but creating rivalries in expansion cities can increase support over time.
Well one person or not my mates are all the same
It’s NRL only.
I couldn’t name one player for Sydney FC or the swans

I’ve never been to rugby union either.

I thought we’d established people from Cronulla won’t leave the shire to watch their own team, none of us are surprised you dont to watch some other sport!

I've also never been to an A League game but there is no denying a presence of that sport in the city, with a potential to grow if the AFL and NRL in the Melbourne do not continue to engage with their supporter bases and young people looking for sports entertainment.

Funny you say that. The Shire was just about empty on G/F day 2016.Indicating sh*t does happen.
Shark's fans at G/F from here and there best 65,000 plus.
Nyet they have no local or latent supporter base.

I bet I’ve seen more footy than you this year and at more grounds.
Too be honest I’ve probably been to more than most
2 games
2 grounds 4 teams

Give me some more train timetables
They were hilarious
You proved once again how little you know about Sydney.

It’s a target audience ..just like the NRL
Just because you put a team there doesn’t mean people will go.

Oh
Anyone catch the news this morning?

One nutbag climbed the bridge
Bought the city to a stand still at peak hour.

Doesn’t take much
A broken down car can have a similar effect.

That's AFL propaganda.

Any comment on your codes low crowd on Good Friday by the way?

The criticism about the AFL's 'low crowd' on Good Friday just shows the difference between what is seen as a 'success' for crowds in the different codes.

The St Kilda Vs North Melbourne Good Friday game got 33,966 to Etihad Stadium on a day that traditionally (up until 2017) has been a day where AFL hasn't been played and all the attention is on religious activities, the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal or heading away for the Easter long weekend.

The Good Friday crowd was actually a 5,000 person boost from a St. Kilda Vs. North Melbourne Friday night game last season at the same ground which got 26,107 in June last year. St. Kilda & North Melbourne are seen as two of the smaller Melbourne teams in the AFL.

But the thing is you can't compare the 'success' between the two codes due to how differently the two competitions are set up. In the AFL all of the Victorian teams have 'homes' within 10-12kms of the CBD. This means that the clubs don't typically represent a 'region' in the same way that Cronulla or Manly due in the NRL. For example how many Cronulla supporters live out in Western Sydney. Yet by comparison a St. Kilda supporter may live in the 'St. Kilda' region but there is still plenty of supporters of the club across the entire city.

As I've said before, people who haven't lived and commuted in Sydney can't understand.

Last year I drove the M5 every day. One incident shuts it down. And there are plenty of dumbmerkins available to create that incident.

Exactly. Geelong is the exception, but you simply cannot compare the distance between Penrith and Bondi to the distance between Richmond, st kilda, Carlton, north Melbourne, hawthorn, Fitzroy, Essendon etc.

Geelong play home games in Melbourne and get 40,000 of Geelong fans there...

Imagine Newcastle doing that..

like someone else said earlier.. AFL is a global outlier..

9 teams in a town of 5 million all surviving and making profits, with all over 40,000 members..

If new york had 9 NFL teams, no way they would all survive 100 years,

We need to stop comparing

That's what I'm saying though. You can't compare Melbourne to Sydney, so why would we think that a two stadium strategy would work as well in Sydney as it does in Melbourne?

No other code has the endless excuses to not attend in the proclaimed heart and soul of the game. You can have perfect conditions, top form team and cheap tickets but there be a excuse. The entitlement of clubs who had decades to draw crowds are holding the game down from expanding. Look at Souths vs bulldogs, great weather, cheap tickets and public holiday only 30k like previous years in spite of cheaper tickets.

Good Friday is one of the most popular days of the year to get out of town for a few days
