2018 Crowd Watch

A couple of factors leading to improved crowds have been much better weather in NSW especially and competitive ticket prices from 4 of the clubs using the Olympic stadium. The good weather is the main one! Last season the first 7 rounds were negatively impacted with poor weather within NSW and elsewhere.

I’d say the more popular clubs having succesful starts is a bigger factor along with the weather. Havent the crowds for the discounted anz ticket games been on par or lower than previous years?

so you want a code run on smoke & mirrors ?
as long as it looks good , but in reality it isn't ?

we burnt almost an entire attendance tonight
for a code that needs to increase its average for its credibility , we buggered it up badly
Mt Smart is not a double header venue

As has already been noted on last seasons form the Warriors would’ve probsnly expected to maybe pull 12K to that game by themselves max and the double header would’ve struggled to get to 20. It wasn’t clear until a week or so ago that their bandwagon was well and truly rolling and it would’ve been too late to get Eden Park at that point.

Only marginally. It was noted that a double header at the Olympic stadium was poorly promoted a few weeks ago. I'd say the value laden tickets will be a bonus crowdwise as the comp sorts itself out.

I'd suggest that Warriors will be filling their 25000 capacity stadium alot this season. And if some games are proactively scheduled for Eden Park like a St George visit then that "not even close" comment will be a past memory.

You do realise they'd have to not only gave total sellouts nearly every home game, but also need to sustain it for years to have a significant long term impact, right?

again
a DH should never , never be scheduled at such a small venue regardless
if you're going to do it in Auckland at all , then it had to be Eden Park & if the warriors were crap
well it may still have got around 20,000
as it turned out they're the form team of the comp & the warriors form swallowed almost an entire attendance

Yeh, I’m all for trial games being taken to small country grounds but nrl games should be played in min 15k venues. Perths crying out for another game, could have brought it here and got 16k.

Ive already said they should have played both of the games they couldn't play at Robina
at Suncorp
in their catchment , & attempt to get some brand awareness built up in Brisbane & SE Qld
cheap tickets
provide free bus's for their members

get 2X 20,000 crowds

no one in Toowoomba or Gladstone gave a stuff about them before these games , or will after them either

Not discussing that ! But I suggest the longterm effect can only be facilitated if the schools encourage the playing of rugby league like they do for union. Something that is fundamental for a code being widely accepted. I'm actually surprised how strong rugby league is in NZ given the lack of school presence that is clearly evident.

Not that it is all about our competitors but check out the Brumbies crowd. Dwarfed by the massively underperforming Raiders on a Thursday night.

Gold Coast fans clearly don’t travel to Suncorp for their game vs Broncos given the poor crowds.

Brisbane fans clearly have no interest in Titans.

Would have been a massive failure

Radical but maybe given the nrl and titans knew the situation well in advance they could have had one of the games as a double header at Suncorp and the other being their home game against the broncos and had reciprocal membership agreement to fill the place?

Warriors tonight and the madness when Tonga played in the WC is a stark indication of what is possible if everyone running this game gets their shit together..

Crowd announced in Newcastle was 21,900 odd.

Another awesome turn out. Will get closer to 30k later this year if we are in the hunt for the 8
