It's not a rivalry if they don't play against each other. It's just sad, old, bitterness making it difficult for the sport to progress.

Wrong . It's there. Your ignorance is baffling however I'm used to this from a number of people whom cannot fathom the damage that is happening and being done to the code.

A disturbing amount of untruths in your summary. Perhaps you might use fact wheb you try discredit the existence of a club. Firstly, it was a flawed criteria and purpose that exited the Bears. Secondly they were as good as any other club. Thirdly, their support is way more than you perceive. Fourthly, the damage to the code as a result of this clubs demise is more than you perceive. And their is more but you won't get these so why bother!?

Even if that's all true, it was 20 years ago.
The time for re-entry as the same club has come and gone.

The Bears need to re-invent themselves with more value than other expansion opportunities, which they haven't succeeded in doing yet, and won't ever in Sydney. Or be content as a tier 2 club. We can't go back to that decision 20 years later. It's gone.

Manly should be the club that represents all of North-East Sydney and the Central Coast. Reinvent themselves as a big club before they hit the wall and the NRL does it for them. Hostile takeover of Bears juniors and 80% relocation to Gosford.

IF any Sydney team was going to move to the CC surely Manly would be up there as the most likely? obviously most their fans only watch their games on TV anyway so having "Central Coast" or even "Northern" instead of "Manly-Warringah" shouldn't mean the fans can't keep supporting them and watching on tv.. and the odd 10,000 or so that do actually consistently go to games can still go to away games in Sydney and a possible "heritage" game

Lol. Absolutely mad talk! What a massive retreat for a once proud code with a population in northern Sydney I'm excess of one million. You blokes are reckless and ignorant. Shame on you all.

It isn't. It's gone. Norths old fans have moved onto other clubs or other sports. They aren't coming back to support a revived suburban club.

I only trust the opinion of blokes on the internet claiming to be teachers.

To the naughty corner for you! And a typical response from an amazingly negative group of contributors. But hey that's the way things roll on this site. Extremely negative and defeatist with no shame!

I've spoken to.plenty that would support the Central Coast Bears if they were given a chance! But that sort of fact doesn't cut it in this error ridden discourse I'm witnessing. Shame on you!

I’m a Knights fan mate. It comes with the territory.

I'm sure they would. But not as many as would support Perth, SE QLD, NZ 2, or even bloody Adelaide Rams in all likelihood.

I used to be a big fan of the CC Bears expansion, but the time has come and gone. Titans got the nod, and then Gallop shut down further expansion talk when Bears revival talk was at its peak. They have no momentum left. Their fans are Melbourne or GC or Penrith fans now (3 examples i'm mates with).

Wouldn't you be happy with another local derby for the Knights? I'm a Roosters fan with the Knights being my back up team. Think it makes good sense instead of seeing the competition and code weakening in northern Sydney?

Not sure how the Roosters factor into ANZ but on average I'm fairly sure Souths and Canterbury average the best in Sydney over the last 10-15 years

They all play out of multi use stadiums
They al get shit crowds
It looks hopeless on TV
Embarrassing.

Roosters must have a magic calculator or something.

20k in an 80k stadium is better than 15k in a 20k stadium.

"how it looks on TV" is a worthless meaningless nothing measurement

rubbish
based on that theory , people living in Bourke who are state tax payers but never use any venues in Sydney should have money spent on Davidson oval where their football team plays
where would that end ?
Well I think that's about the size of it, and a pretty big part of the reason rebuilding all these stadiums that are only just approaching mid-life, if that, is so on the nose with the public at large.

Dissagree. The damage to the code is massive in northern Sydney and you dismiss it. And a population base of one million plus as well!? You seem to think the Gold Coast is why the Bears are not here? No that's not why. It's the restrictive number of clubs in this competition and the Gold Coast was a must do strategic club in another abandoned area courtesy of the Superleague farce.
