If I was going to 2 games back to back, I would take the 2 minutes to switch top/hat/scarf on my walk between the stadiums. It's not that hard.

Lol, that's what I did except I went back to my car instead which was in the members car park, I went to the Swans after I finished work and after that finished I changed out of my work clothes in the car park into my Roosters gear. Took the car over and parked it early morning before I went to work.

I only saw them in the members
I think that is a case of them getting their money’s worth and seeing every event they can.
Doubt hardly any people pay for both on the day.

Yep I thought there would have been a lot more in the members, surprised there weren't that many to be honest.

That’s my point
I don’t reckon fans cross over much between the 2 codes.
Using an AFL game on at the same time as an excuse is debatable.
The majority would not have gone to the rugby league anyway.
I wouldn’t go to the AFL.
I wouldn’t go soccer or union
Cricket has got f**k all chance as well.

Members might because they want to justify the cost...they’d go to everything though.

They have already confirmed the venue.

If the NRL aren't going to move the storm to Etihad (which they have the right to do), I can't see any justification to moving our game given the 2014 crowd. Arguably more people are getting locked out of the storm game especially given playing right next door to the AFL might put some people off.

I know they have, but they should change their mind.

You’ve skipped over the paying customers issue though. Allianz has 45k seats but only 32-34k are paying, that means ordinary fans are being locked out in large numbers.

The storm game has other considerations, such as Etihad being owned by the AFL. But I still think it should be at the biggest venue if they think they can get well past 30k.

Bad luck to whoever is locked out. They should become full ticketed members if they don't want to miss out in future. This is a premium event and not everyone can attend premium events.

It's our home game and the SFS is deemed an appropriate venue by the NRL for week 3 finals. If they want to remove SFS (SCG from next year) as an appropriate week 3 venue then so be it but until then any roosters home prelim should be at Moore park. That is the right we earnt on saturday night.

Disappointing crowds apart from Brisbane.

Souths v St George - first time in forever these two have played a finals game. With the history behind it it should be 50k minimum.

Sharks v Panthers - first time playing each other in finals. Should be 30k but surely at least 25k?

Penrith fans won’t travel, and the Sharks don’t have that many fans. Probably low 20K.

Predictions for Bunnies v Dragons on Saturday night? Personally I reckon about 55k but I wouldn't be surprised to see more.

More than happy to be proven wrong but I honestly think it will be 45K max. Weather forecast looks outstanding though.

If more than 80% of the lower bowl is full, it will look good.

So you expect people to come out of the swans and buy another ticket for the nrl game?

I literally do not know one person who goes regularly to both NRL and AFL.
I reckon vic would be the same
Those people who were at the AFL were probably never going to go to the storm game.
Same goes for tv viewers.

So using it as an excuse for a shit crowd is bullshit.
Truth is 17k is about all you would’ve got regardless of the AFL.

This isn't some hypothetical. It's not like this is the first time the storm have held a finals match. We make the finals every bloody year. I don't have all of our final crowds off the top of my head but I'm pretty confident at least in recent years that we draw more than 17K. So it really doesn't matter what you think.

Likewise we know there are plenty of storm fans who also support an AFL team. Shit we have posters on this very forum who can attest to just that. The fact that you don't think there's any crossover is irrelevant.

Let's not forget just how many people who were watching the AFL. On FTA there was 550K and around 420K on fox (who almost certainly were mostly from Melbourne). So this is a game that likely had 800K people watching in Melbourne and 90K at the MCG. You're talking about numbers not far from SOO. If you honestly believe an event like that has no impact on other sporting events in the same city at the same time then there is no point containing this discussion because you're clearly an idiot.

So what are everyone's expectations for this week. Hoping for 25K and 50K respectively.

And 65,000 on G/F day, shown by 2016 figures.

I think I missed that. When did we get figures on exactly how many sharks fans were at the final? Also it's pretty irrelevant anyway. It doesn't matter how many there were if that's the only time they'll actually come out to a match.

Why do you keep mentioning AFL crowd numbers?
They were watching that because they prefer it.
Those people were most likely not going to go to or watch the NRL.

It’s like comparing under ground punk rock to
Taylor swift
Both music
But people are probably not going to listen to both.

No it home state Final. Even Canberra or Knights should they host a PF would need to play at Allianz or ANZ

Because no matter how much you like to pretend otherwise we're directly competing with them and no amount of hand waving will change that.

Most storm fans also follow an AFL team as you would expect when the AFL is by far the biggest game in town.

If the swans or giants schedule a game on a Wednesday night against SOO do you truly believe there would be no impact on their crowd numbers?

Also ignore the data all you like but you can literally check and see what impact the AFL match had. This isn't the first time the storm has played a finals game. Go back and compare the numbers.
