2018 Crowd Watch

I liken the difference between afl fans and rugby league fans to this:

Your afl fan is like a couple who walk around groping each other all day, fingering each other in the park and telling every merkin on Facebook how much in love they are.

Then you've got rugby league fans who are normal people.
Agree with the AFL fan reference.

But disagree that we should accept the NRL fan being normal. That assumes the status quo is ok and we can't change behaviour; and that we accept NRL crowds may forever be at their current levels.

I feel as though the NRL has already accepted this in some way which IMO shows their defeatist attitude towards growing crowds.

I agree, crowds could definitely be better and so could fan engagement.

My biggest concern with crowds is the lack of teenagers you see at games. When I was 14 onwards almost every second week at least 3 car loads of my mates would make at least an hour drive, pay $5 - $10 dollars and watch a game.

Ticket prices are probably too high for teenagers to do that regularly these days and so they're doing something else instead and not getting into the culture of attending games

As a neutral I am so bloody excited for tonight.

Side note, I had not seen one positive NRL article this entire week. So in my opinion the decision to stay at Allianz is probably a win.

Up to the SCG members and corporates to show up now I guess.

He is so full of shit, why is he tweeting this? You can buy plenty of restricted view seats (currently in section 37) on ticketek now, they have also put limited batches of two on sale in cat one areas.

It may have been true at 2:23pm this afternoon - perhaps more opened up since he wasn't aware of?

Nah, i've been watching it throughout the day, he's just a knob.
At the time he posted it, he was right. Ticketek said general public could no longer purchase tickets. Also have a screenshot of this (attached).

But agree he should've known better.

So strange, but happy to stand corrected here, as have checked each hour or two in my hungover state.

Might well have been a ticketek glitch for a few minutes. Does happen with Suncorp too, says things like "performance unavailable" at times!

You can now get 8 tickets in bay 13 and also bay 12. I believe the NRL has held them back for rock ups. Some people on this forum were buying tickets behind the posts because they didnt want to miss out, but you can wait till half an hour before kick off and get 50m seats!

This is exactly why stadiums never reach capacity these days.
I just wish every seat went on sale on day 1, and every seat remained on sale till they were all sold out.
The system is shit.
This match should have sold out completely days ago, and would have.

At times the NRL reminds me of the big banks.

Screw over the loyal long term customers and treat the new ones like god!

Ticketek are f**king rubbish.

Does ticketing rights come down to the venue or does the NRL have the option to change over to ticketmaster?

I got burnt every f**king year for the derby in Brisbane and always ended up getting woeful seats in the early bird sales. This year I waited out and got the very front row of the top of the eastern stand on the 50m line which were absolutley superb.

I believe it is the venue, I wish Suncorp had the balls to change to ticketmaster. The Broncos clearly prefer it as we use it for our memberships which is unreal - can choose our seats for that even.

The Gabba has swapped between ticketmaster and ticketek like four times the last decade.

When i was organising my tickets to week one v Dragons, it kept rerouting me to the AFL "hot-ticket" domain. Ha! It also kept accusing me of being a bot because bots were buying the AFL tickets and auto listing on ebay.
