For those who dont think there is a direct correlation between crowds and TV viewing figures, I just witnessed my young bloke and a few of his mates sit down to watch the game, saw the crowd and lack of atmosphere and after 5 mins they went outside to play cricket.

9 seem to like to keep the crowd volume way down for some reason...

Even for the Origin games, it sounds like the ground is empty.

They will relentlessly delay games, yet when it would actually be good to start this one a bit later (maybe 7.30QLD/8.30NSW time, they are dead on schedule).

Most of them missed the first 20 minutes for some reason. There was at best 28k in the stadium for the first 20 minutes.

30Kish at kickoff is the problem
looks awful
wouldn't happen if the game kicked off at the correct time of 8pm local time
or 7.30pm at worst

the idea that for the first few weeks of the comp during daylight savings
of a 6.30pm kickoff for the early fri game & an 8.30pm kickoff for the later time .. NSW times
makes sense

DO you think they bought the ticket only wanting to watch half a match or do you think they just physicially could not get there in time for a 7pm kickoff?

I was late, was just impossible to make it there on time. Daylight savings is garbage

Precisely. They have to make allowances because of the backwardsness of the majority of people north of the Sunshine Coast who are worried about confused cows and faded curtains.

The chooks/dogs probably get 17-18k if the kickoff is 7:40.

As it stands that 5k probably watched the game at the pub which is exactly what the NRL and fox want.

Dogs don't have it any better for the return fixture.. Thursday night... ridiculous.

Hope so, will look great on TV. Great effort by the club to get fans through the gate after all the negativity surrounding the club and NZRL in general.
