Do we think the Warriors are taking much a hit on the $15 ticket promotion?

If they get 24,000+, you would think the spend at the stadium, and the good publicity/vibe would be well worth it.

Excellent chance of having 3
20+ crowds today.

That would be a pretty rare event. Not confident it will happen, think the storm will fall short and despite the sellout the panthers will be a close one.

4 20K+ crowds in one week would be spectacular. Only one of them is really a typically high drawing game as well.

I'm sure they wouldn't make as much as selling full priced tickets but no way they're losing money. If they really get as much as 25K+ I think we'll see more promotions like this in the future.

The knock on effects with memberships, merchandise, sponsors etc will be huge.

I don’t know why the storm would fall short.

If warriors get another win today in front of a big crowd it could be great for their memberships. Piggybacking off the Tongan feel good factor from the world Cup could be great for them.

I’ve never understood the 10,000 people at $40 theory versus the 20,000 at $20.
Surely it is better for all of there is 20,000. More food sales. More merch. More beer sales etc etc. better atmosphere.
Sure you need some more security and the like but just having more people in the space has benefits

I think Mt Smart had extra seating at the North End for the World Cup? They're definitely taking a hit, their also giving $5 of the $15 to the Red Cross for their Cyclone Gita appeal. Must be loss leader, get 'em and then hopefully win them over I guess...

12,000 at the SFS was better than I thought considering the poor 6pm schedule. Who's idea was it to put that on at 6pm?

For the proclaimed sporting capital no excuses, storm for all there success should be selling out games regulary. To think lions outdrew the broncos during the three peat which is embarrassing for the league capital aleast they capitalize on the success compared to storm who by now should have made greater inroads by now.

I'm not excusing I'm just saying 20K is far from guaranteed. I agree I think they should get 20K and there is a chance but that's still a high bar.

How many times per year does any club (bar the broncos) draw 20K against an out of town team and not even a big drawing one at that? I wouldn't assume a crowd of that size is a given.

I think the argument is whether or not you're guaranteed to double crowds by lowering prices. What if you half ticket prices and no one extra shows up? Than you've possibly just thrown away 10s of thousands of dollars.

It's a balancing act. I agree though that there is far more room for deals like this in the NRL.

I'm sure we'll be reading this post every week for the threat of the year but it goes back to agreeing to Friday 6pm and Thursday timeslots in the first place. Every single game this year would be better off not being in those timeslots but they have to put something there.

I don't see what makes that game worse than any other this week.

Have you ever been to Melbourne and tried showing support for any other sport other than flogball. When I was there I couldn't believe their attitudes towards any other sport. They were openly hostile to me for being a RL fan.

It's pointless comparing AFL crowds to NRL crowds as they're just bigger in general.

The storm are seeing consistent growth and are now one of the highest crowd drawers in the NRL without the benefit of away fans for the most part. They also have one of the highest membership bases and bring in very good sponsorship money. I'm sure we would all like more but it's not like the storm haven't seen a lot of growth over the years.

Expecting the storm to be having regular sellouts (which means 30K+ crowds) when basically only the broncos can achieve that outside of big blockbusters like the ANZAC match is totally unrealistic.

Didn't they bring in extra seating for the Semi final thus the crowd figure?

I don't remember seeing any
Mt Smart looked like it was in its ususal configuration
the blue n white seats to the right of camera which are only a few years old but permanent , I thought pushed the grounds capacity to 30K

Pretty sure they put in extra seating behind the north end of the field. I think the Warriors crowd will be closer to 20K than 24K, weather is also a bit dodgy, but still quite the turnaround consider where they were last year.
