I’ve never understood the 10,000 people at $40 theory versus the 20,000 at $20.
Surely it is better for all of there is 20,000. More food sales. More merch. More beer sales etc etc. better atmosphere.
Sure you need some more security and the like but just having more people in the space has benefits
considering most clubs don't own their stadiums, do they benefit from beer and food sales, or does that make its way back to the owners?

This works if 20,000 people come but if only say 12,000 people come at $20 then you are behind. It's not as simple as Ray Hadley makes out and there's always a balancing act

Think we can say that at the moment, the vibe around crowds is much greater than it has been in recent years.

Does that mean Rothfield can now go into hibernation in a cave somewhere in Siberia or even better Antartica.

Apologies if wrong thread - I'm new around here. Going to my first ever NRL game tonight and was just wondering what crowd is predicted for the storm vs tigers game and if i will be okay to buy tickets at the gate or if i should buy online?

Probably get em online save you lining up and they do tend to be a bit more at the gate. Means you can scan off your phone

Probably 18-20K, I haven't seen many estimates. You'd be fine buying your tickets at the gate but nowadays I think you're probably better off buying beforehand.

something around 20K is tipped
meaning they'll be plenty of room

Looks more than 2/3rds full to me if the stand at the back isn't included in the 30k capacity..so 20k+

jury is out on the grounds capacity , maybe 25K if temp stands were erected for the world cup
it has def filled up since kickoff
stand behind camera is full , stand facing camera is just about full
bit sparse on the end
might be 18 to 20K

Be surprised if it’s over 17k. I guess that puts to bed the cheaper tickets equals significantly bigger crowds theory?

Well it doesn’t actually because A. The crowd hasn’t been announced and B. It is significantly bigger than this fixture would usually get

Is it? Good weather, good time slot, winning team, first home game of the year. I’d have though 15-16k would have been a reasonable expection given those factors?

But your right, if it’s 18-20k then it shows cheap tickets do make a difference, though probably not enough to cover the losses of full priced tickets so can only realistically be occasional, rather than the norm. unless clubs are willing to live on less revenue.

If you look at our past crowds in the first games at my smart they are not that high, add in the titans who we would usually draw 13k max to. The cheap tickets appear to have done something. Proceeds going to hurricane relief as well.
