Since 1999 there's only been 5 grand finals where neither team has played, this is the first time that they will play each other.

I'd hate to support either team, constantly being in the grand final how boring? Give me the ups, the downs, the twists, the turns that supporting a team like the Eels gives you unlike these 2 boring clubs.

We’ve had ups?

shit of a game that was, and the Crow had a chance to bury them with a conversion a week earlier that I could have thrown over the cross bar

How weird is it that we had draw on the Sunday and then had to front up at the SCG a week later.

Ironically the AFL had a drawn GF that year as well.

Also ...

Referee Gary Cook gave far too much latitude to foul play with St George lock Rod Reddy handed five cautions in the 44 minutes he was on the field but was not sent off by referee Cook.

While there can be no evidence of any bias, Cook was employed by Dragons’ major sponsor Penfolds Wines at the time and many within the game argued that he should never been put into the position of potential conflict of interest by the league.

Even the NSW Premier Neville Wran, a keen league enthusiast who was at the match, was moved to comment how disgusted he was by the Dragons’ underhanded tactics.

“In all my years of supporting rugby league I have seldom seen a player [Ray Price] subjected to so much punishment yet still walk off the field the star of the game. When I walked into the Parramatta dressing room to offer my condolences I was disgusted to find he had been bitten.”

What happened to the twilight game? I thought the NRL did some good by compromising and bringing the game forward but now we're back to the late timeslot again.

The only good was for the TV networks.

Apparently it rates well at 7.30 rather than 5.10pm.

From a crowd perspective, I personally think the 5.10pm created better atmopshere. Having been to the 2017 and also 2011 and 2009 GF's.

Wow, I have never heard that story. The year before I was born. I have always hated Dogs, Manly Melbourne etc but maybe St George has to go on the black list now too.
