This is an extremely tough assignment but its not actually life and death. The Cows came to Penrith last year (much later in the season too) with a much more disrupted side than we've got and were duly dispatched, but it didn't stop them making the decider.

Cowboys have been a bit disappointing so far, injuries notwithstanding.

I've been thinking they'll click for the last couple of weeks, hasn't really happened yet, but could very well be this week. Too good of a side for it not to happen eventually.

Cowboys under Green always start the season looking hopeless, takes them a few weeks to get it together.

Hopefully it's this week.

Panthers are no worse than Cowboys in their 1-2 start. Their only win has come against an average Sharks side.

Cowboys deserve to be favorites. But they have been average as hell also. Cleary is a huge loss. But Maloney to 7 isnt a bad backup option. Certainly doesnt screw us like it would have last year.
I don't think the Panthers are close to the team they are without Cleary though.

Even if both teams play well the Cows should win.
With the Cows is mostly been attitude and fitness, these are things that hopefully will be fixed this week, especially at home.
I'm not sure what Panthers' issue is but they have to make up for the loss of Cleary and these poor starts, when they're a much younger and less experienced team.

Hard to know... he's missing his first ever game for us since his debut.

Realistically it should be a huge loss. But his first injury has occurred at the best time gor us. Last year we would have been stuck with some dodgy as f**k combination consisting of May, Peachey and Cartwright.

This year we have Maloney to steer the team around at least. Cowboys deserve to feel confident they can beat us. They have a MUCH better forward pack and halves. Although on form it can go either way. Both have played well below yhrir best so far.

May didn't do much wrong last year, and would have slotted straight into the 6 if he was fit
I never said he did. That's not what I meant by that.

I was saying if Cleary was out last year than 2 of them would have likely combined in the halves. Which would be a disaster. 2 ball runners and no playmakers.

Maloney can play 6 or 7 well. So when Cleary got injured his value to us went up. Both as a playmsker and a goalkicker.

Can’t go past the Cowboys. Panthers way short of their best side.
Predicting a ‘competitive’ Thurston call at some point in the game.
