It really should just be called England for next year’s tour.

I’m pretty worried about it’s commeric viability. There’s a lot of proposed matches, that will be played over a month? Going be super expensive unless the NRL subsidise something?

I guess they are hoping Tonga and NZ will make them the money.
After all the fuss people have made about Tonga needing to get more games against the big sides I really hope the fans keep turning out in numbers for the games they are going to get.
To ensure this I would hope the Aus Vs Tonga game is played in WSS and not Auckland which is where I would play the Lions vs Tonga game.

These are good points.

I really hope that WSS is a silver bullet for Australian attendances for International League. It’s the perfect size for where we are at, and located in the right part of Sydney where assumingly most of fans are.

f**king nothing

the stupid GB tour is still subject to the playing leagues and player's associations? So the NRL and RLPA haven't even agreed to it yet.

Oceania Cup - 2 groups of 3 and yay Australia play NZ and Tonga again and that's it. Really if we are going to have this crap just have the Four Nations again and the Pacific Cup. The only difference is that England isn't in it.

Has it been stated why Australia refuse to host GB yet? Other than GB being pointless?

The Aussie's don't think playing GB would make money..

And the last time GB tried to tour the pacific without playing Australia the tour had to send players home early and cancel tour games cos it ran out of money...

I don't see this new GB tour being any different

So looking at the calendar this is what I think;

The good,

- Oceania cup in 2019/2020 and 2022 held in unison with European Cup
- Lions playing against Pacific opposition
- Women's game and wheelchair RL have program.
- Financial support for America's cup
- new MEA championship
- World cup 9s

Bad
- No news on Asian Cup or Emerging nations world cup.
- no word on Disability games
- Lions tour to disrupt Celtic nations WC qualifiers.

Overall a promising schedule, I hope the 2020 Australia tour to Europe includes French and Celtic nation matches as well.

What happens if the Scotland and Ireland or Wales RL players declare themselves unavailable for GB Tour while they focus on their RLWC qualifiers ? If there is a clash

I wonder if its a RFL / RLIF issue. NRL gave away test matches on Aussie soil in the last TV deal so no extra money to be made

Mate no one from Scotland Ireland or wales would make a GB team lol it’s f**king English players only lol. So until we get some players up to the standard of the English why the f**k do we bother with GB ?, it’s a joke.

The rumour was that the GB squad will be made up of 20 Englishman and then 4 each from Wales,Scotland & Ireland..

But...like you said,it's something I said years ago...Scotland & wales or Ireland might need their best players to make sure they qualify for the RLWC...

Out of interest based on your knowledge of Super League, who would these 12 players you would expect to fill the quota?

Like i would expect them to get game time during the mid week games

So we won't see Australia v England in Australia until at least 2023. Six f**king years. The last time we played them were 2006 - 2008 - 2010 - 2014 - 2017. 4 years was too long. Now it will be six if not more.

I would like to see figures behind this 'won't make any money' thing. How does Australia v GB = losing money but Australia v Tonga = fine? We saw NZ v Australia get 12,000 while we had to pay $20,000 to every player in match fees, yet we are still ok to play NZ?

Don't shoot the messenger....

Fully expect Peter beattie/nrl to speak out in the next few whinging weeks about the outcome of a AGM they tried to take over....and failed

On the contrary, he has been extremely positive about the entire rlif meeting and 8 year schedule. You seem to have a dislike for him but he is getting some things done that many other before him have either failed or not cared about.
Whether you like it or not, the rlif need the nrl.

Whowins the Oceania Cup? Does it consist of two leagues with one above the other or are they equal? If equal will there be a final? If one over the other will there be movement between the two groups?

Where the f@$k is the confed cup? And if that idea has been scrapped how are England going to get enough matches against Australia and New Zealand FFS?

A confed cup or re-instatement of the 4/5/6 nations was imperative.

It's P/R so whoever wins between Australia, Tonga, NZ wins and whoever finishes last is relegated. I really hope the 3 teams are all 1-1 with the same F/A.

Don't worry, we got the World 9s now. All the games that should be happening can now happen condensed to 18 minute games over one weekend.

Australia v Tonga "barely broken even" according to the Aussie press...and that's with the Aussie's taking a 75% pay cut..

Australia playing 3 tests against GB,England or NZ,with the Aussie's having their full $20k match fee, means the 3 tests will cos the ARLC over a $1m in match fees...that's why they think it's not commercially viable...they've priced themselves out

Ireland going down to Wales today means it's almost certain not to support the GB tour next year while they try to qualify for the world cup...they weren't fully onboard with GB as it was.

He was positive after the Singapore meeting...then shit on it weeks later..

I'd also like to know what you think he's done?? the half arsed "Oceania cup" which he's not even cleared with the RLPA....a regular pacific cup was Nigel wood's number 1 priority anyway..

But Nigel wood couldn’t implement it and get it over the line. And it’s hardly half arsed, it will be a major success. He has made a bigger impact at the rlif in a much shorter time than Nigel woods who we barely hear boo from.
