Where he was bowling! Pitches has effect greatly. Also, he's the quickest bowler (even patto and cummins) He had a injury awhile and I think it's good now. Glenn was one of our best bowlers cleaning up the tail - YES - he bowled out 2 of the best batsman ever - Lara and Tendluker. Cleaning the tail up in a tight Test is very beneficial. Siddle got 44 runs..Starc is a better batsman.
Do you understand this?

Starc is one of our best bowlers, Hazelwood he's like Glenn Mcgrath - line and length. Though I prefer Starc as he has the X factor and when he's on..the best batsman are screwed.

Starc is competing with Pattinson. You don’t want Pattinson? He got wickets and he’s the best bat out of all the bowlers we have. We need batting depth. You need a bowler that ties down an end in the middle overs. We’ve tried these burst bowlers before in the last 2 series in england, they don’t work.

I didn’t say cleaning up the tail isn’t beneficial, but the stats clearly show the other two get more top order wickets. Particularly Cummins.

The Aussie love of pace has hurt us overseas, doesn’t translate into wickets in England. All our fastest bowlers, who also happen to be the least accurate, have done worse in England than their overall record. Lee & Johnson for example.

The best bowlers in England have been the most accurate, none of them were express pace. McGrath, Reiffel, Harris, Alderman et al.

Also Starcs batting has been bad for a couple of years now. Gone downhill a lot.

That to me means that Hazelwood was deemed not match fit- which was what I said before the test. Would be a huge risk (as we saw with Anderson) taking bowlers in off long layoffs

Maybe, but he had a lot of warm up games. I think more likely it was just he hasn’t been bowling well.

Just wonder whether they want him getting another let’s say 40 overs in during this tour game. Last thing we need is a bowler down especially with us gambling on Pattinson already

The most effective way to stop a batsman from making runs is to get him out.

And wickets don’t just come because of good balls. They come through pressure too.

reaching a bit there JL

they can happen from good bowling, green pitches, bad shots, bad batsmen and a whole lot of other issues

some may come from pressure build up from tight bowling but its not assured as some basemen can ride out pressure situations

it can contribute but its not a given like the unplayable delivery

I didn’t say it was a given, it’s simply a tactic.

On past tours we’ve tried to blast England out and it hasn’t worked. I’m glad we’re trying something different.
