Im not a fan of the 'like for like' aspect of the concussion substitute rule, as it can be exploited by teams depending on the type of pitch.

Should be the 12th man who takes part in the starting XI.

It has to be signed off by a doctor doesn't it and approved by the ICC. I think its as fair as it can be

Gutted, hopefully he can come back at some stage in this series
Looks like it will be 4th test due to the short 3 day gap from today until the 3rd test.

Regardless of whether Smith plays in 3rd test or not, definite changes need to be made to our top 3 batting lineup. We cant continue to carry Warner/Bancroft/Khawaja making crap scores and putting pressure on the middle and lower order. At least one of them should make way for Harris.

Whether Langer has the balls to make a big call remains to be seen, but Warner is the one in the firing line from those top 3 batsmen.

If Smith cant play, Id have Labuschagne in for him. But if Headingley is a rank green top with pronounced seam/swing movement, then Mitch Marsh as a 4th seam option.

Warner? There’s more chance I get call up to play than him being dropped after two tests.

if anyone goes it’ll be Bancroft, but it’ll depend on second innings scores. If he makes a 50 he probably saves himself.

Like for like is perfect. Imagine first ball of a test match the opener clowns it back at the bowler and concusses him, and you have to replace him with your twelfth who is a batsman? Or vice versa....

Yes, im sure the cricketers on this forum would put in a better effort than Warner. I know he was great in the World Cup (like Starc was with the ball), but if Australia bats today and we have another top order capitulation, someone in the dressing room needs to slap some common sense into Langer that changes definitely have to be made.
