Which bodes well for a team batting 2nd and that needs to lose 20 wickets to lose the match. Unless we collapse in two consecutive innings here, we control the tempo of this game. Batting 2nd was a safe option here. It lowers the chance of losing.

But yes if they go on to make 500+, it was the wrong decision. 5 overs in, way too early to be panicking about bad decisions.

You keep dribbling about stats while we will watch the pitch and the game. It’s a poor decision from what I have seen. People are so shocked to see a green deck and think it’s going to seam all over the place. It won’t if it’s dry underneath like it looks on this deck.

The umpires this series are the worst umpires in the game IMO. I can't think of a worse Test umpire than the ones they've had handling these matches? I dunno how many times fans and players have to say it but we want the best umpires for the best series.

Does anyone, even at the ICC, reckon KettleBrah is suddenly going to turn into Umpire Venkat just cos he's umpiring the Ashes?

You'd be opening a Pandora's box by doing that though. Every country will want home umpires and if they don't get it they'll claim inequality, racism, corruption, etc

Wilson was added to the elite panel because they simply did not have umpires for this series. Its a farce. Half the elite panel is from Australia or England. There are zero Indian elite umpires.

I think the ICC needs to do more.

There is obviously some kind of problem producing umpires in certain countries. Each full member should be contributing

Wtf is wrong with the leadership in this team. You drop one of our only strike bowlers who is fresh from only playing one game in the series. Then replace him with a proven failure.
Then choose to bowl first despite leading the series when we should be looking at putting the foot in the throat.

It's so frustrating.
