Yes it does. It shows that what you think about batting 1st doesn't matter as much as you think. It will be much better to bat on for side batting 2nd in their first innings. The only problem is that we have to bowl them out for 300-350. That's the risk you take.
Last 10 tests here going back to 2009, side batting second has won 5 times, side batting 1st 4 times, 1 draw.
Spot on, it’s only about 50/50 anyway. Plus who was playing???Different teams different circumstances. Has absolutely nothing to do with this game where we have the worlds best batsman in career best form and only need a draw to take the series. And we just bowled last on the previous test a few days ago.
hardly relevant.
aust have a far better record batting 1st...
Eng already moved into favouritism, totally switched since the toss decision. Ing 2.09 favs now, Aust was that before toss decision.
Horrible decision, these umps are as clueless as Paine.
What time of year were those tests played? Hasn’t rained in London since the Lords test. This is drier than it looks.Last 10 tests here going back to 2009, side batting second has won 5 times, side batting 1st 4 times, 1 draw.
I’ve always thought Erasmus is a horrible umpire and Chuckasema is no better.Strange how the commentators were pumping them up

AgreeThis looks a decent deck IMO, not sure why you would send them in. Paine is still a tard.
The umpires this series are the worst umpires in the game IMO. I can't think of a worse Test umpire than the ones they've had handling these matches? I dunno how many times fans and players have to say it but we want the best umpires for the best series.
Does anyone, even at the ICC, reckon KettleBrah is suddenly going to turn into Umpire Venkat just cos he's umpiring the Ashes?
