You just can't go out there and do that though when the ball is swinging and the pitch is seaming. This isn't some kind of slump he's in; his game and technique are not made for the conditions. He's unable to dealing with the moving ball like a lot of our batsman who have been brought up on pitches flatter than Keira Knightley's chest.

Get him back to Australia and he'll revert to type - plundering runs by going hard at the ball and swinging. I can't see him adapting.

The ball didn’t swing & seam a heap in Manchester, easily the best batting conditions of the series. Expect it’ll be similar at the oval, been quite dry in London the last few weeks. These late summer conditions aren’t the typical English ones at all.

Cummins deserves the chance to take 30 wickets this series. He can have a rest while we play the Minnows from New Zealand over the summer.

I’d let Warner see out the final test and the home series and then retire him in Katich fashion.
