What is the future though and will there be a pathway to Super league after the next tv deal is delivered?

If you were New York or a second Canadian team I would be applying straight to Super league in maybe an expanded comp.

The RFL would have a hard time selling that to the fans even if it does benefit the sport.

So is current Super League still under RFL rule even with Elstone taking charge?

I’m not sure, be it SL or RFL the same stands.
You have to remember sports teams are not franchises in England and people expect and demand P&R.

After Toronto and hopeful New York, a new project should see the light of day driven by Eric Perez.

Eric Perez, who is behind the Toronto creation, already has a new project. Recent buyer of Stags Hemel and therefore a license in League 1, he plans to establish a new American club in the English championship. Initially planned in Hamilton, this club should see the light elsewhere.

If Montreal has been surveyed and would be a good alternative, the Jacksonville team seems very interested and has the advantage of having a well-anchored club and a pool of players with many US internationals. In any case the trend of an opening overseas is more pressing and Perez wants to counter New York whose project seems to flounder.

Two games into the season and Newcastle Thunder have sacked coach Jason Payne. A bit knee jerk to say the least.

It’s a difficult one. I suppose SL could admit any overseas team they wanted to seeing as the foreign clubs already in the system aren’t RFL members. They wouldn’t have to seek RFL permission IMO. Don’t quote me on that though.

Boston is now looking for a spot in the structure.

I know this is far fetch but maybe they should start looking at a Super League North America competition as the British game can't keep excepting these teams while trying to keep their own clubs relevant.

Perez purchase of Hemel licence causes controversy Eric Perez’s new team is set to be based in Jacksonville, after he bought Hemel Stags’ licence to run a League 1 team in 2020. The move hasn’t come without controversy though – Manchester Rangers were allegedly recently asked for £500,000 to buy in to the league, while the New York bid have also baulked at a consultancy fee they were asked to pay, hence the lack of progress with their public bid.

Toronto boss Argyle targeted Widnes Toronto Wolfpack owner David Argyle was genuinely interested in investing in Widnes Vikings, before pulling out over the weekend. Speculation he wanted to move the club to Liverpool were wide of the mark, though he was thought to want to rename the club to Liverpool, but keep it based at the Halton Stadium. The impressive development pathway at Widnes would have led to that supporting the Wolfpack’s progress.

Maybe this is why the RFL rejected the Manchester Rangers bid? Because they’ve been sitting on the Perez and Jacksonville franchise.

Maybe the RFL favoured a team with credible financial backing and didn’t want to risk allowing 2 expansion teams into league 1 after so many recent failures??

Its totally far fetched and laughable in 2019. It’s just not possible at this moment in time. The US already has their own league and there isn’t enough talent in the world to have three pro top flight leagues.

I wouldn't suggest the lack of talent claim! There exists a significant number of very talented players in Australia that miss out on the top-flight rugby league for various reasons: bad luck, injury, not getting a good go, contacts, poor selection and lack of opportunity. So the player talent is about. My own experience as a trialist has certainly made me aware of the many talented players that miss the NRL cut. Plenty before I was cut! (made last 30 from 300)So the player talent is there. Just got to dangle the carrot I suggest!?

Perhaps you’re not very impartial on this matter considering your experiences.
