I love a conspiracy theory.

Maybe old mate Politis told Gus that come November, Nathan will be offered the Ice Bergs, so Gus thinks to get it sorted before then, he needs Ivan on board before then. Otherwise, as has been pointed out many times, why the rush??

If someone comes in and changes the roster they have rocks in their head.

Easy to say as we have seen winning isn't always enough. We debuted so many guys.

What if new coach wants older depth? or we don't have guys built to make 50+ tackles a game. Maybe they want a workhorse

I don't think Gus understands the interview process. What use is it having 12+ applicants if you state you already know your man. Talk about destined to repeat your failures.

His ego won't admit he stuffed up nor I doubt he will be able to stay out of the coaching side of things

I understand but I think we finally have what we need. All that's missing is a coach who can get the best out of them. I believe Ivan can do it others think not. I wouldn't be against other options as well.

Which concerns me it could all end in tears again if Ivan returns. We all know Gould's history.
Only this time if it goes sour we could lose Nathan.

Seems like we were going to lose Nathan anyway if Ivan doesn’t come back.

But I have concerns about the father/son dynamics and how it could impact the rest of the team.

Why do we need the process to be quick? Whoever we choose, they are not coaching us this season.

I honestly believe this was a done deal before the sacking of Griffin.
All the resumes being flung their way will be sitting under gus’s coffee and cake crumbs.
If Ivan is who they are after, he is on board and the club would of explored all the legal ramifications involved to make the deal happen.

You could be very right. Gus always has a plan B, C and D. Time will tell I suppose.

Agree with you he appeared halfway out the door.

How the Father and Son combo works is anyone's guess. Lang/Lang worked but this one is completely different.

You are probably right but I can't quite get my head around it - Ivan lures Matulino, Packer and Lolohea to the Tigers and at the first chance he gets just f**ks off? Doesn't seem to be very Ivan Cleary like to me? Isn't Cleary a man of moral fibre?

Yeah I agree 100% it doesn’t feel right.
I just don’t think we would have fired up this circus unless they were sure of the outcome.

I still wouldn’t be surprised to hear all the rumours are wrong and we see old Wayne squeeze into a panthers jersey for a couple of years.

I don’t think Cleary Sr. Is coming back.

This isn’t playing out the way you’d expect for a reunion.

This is Gus preparing the fans, media and Nathan for the idea that they tried to lure him, couldn’t and went with option B which is actually option A.

Welcome Tim Sheens....

I have no idea.

If it's something the family wants perhaps Ivan will come back. Remember Ivan (last game) talking about how challenging it was for his wife, apparently she found it very hard.

But I suppose Time will answer these questions.

I think that would drive all the fans away

I am not fussed on Ivan coming back. He had his chance here it didn't work out. I think the club should go through 12 candidates and pick the best one that will get the best out of the players and hopefully win us a premiership.
