Storm v Tigers 12k
Panthers v Warriors 10k
Broncos v Roosters 30k
Titans v Bulldogs 10k
Cowboys v Eels 12k
Raiders v Souths 16k
Dragons v Knights 10k
Sharks v Manly 14k

Total around 115k, Average 14.5k

Could potentially have 3 crowds under 10k. Not sure about the Broncos crowd after Magic Round.
Broncos might get a few more. Raiders maybe. At least the sharks should beat that terrible effort last time. Bloody dismal!

So based upon Toddy's figures
101k or 75% came from Queensland across the 4 days or 25k average per day

With 34k coming interstate across the weekend

Over the last 8 rounds non Queensland supporters averaged 102.5k per weekend and maxed at 149k over ANZAC. Thats 68k to 115k that missed out on watching a NRL game live

So the question is - did we get new supporters attending or the same people that would go the Suncorp attending a big weekend of football

That’s one of the most convoluted and silly posts I’ve ever read.

Wasn't there also people who booked from 10 different countries besides Australia and NZ? It was probably only 1 or 2 from most of them but what 10 countries would it of been? and did they go just because of Magic Round?

I really don’t think that is the question at all.

So how many came from these 10 other countries ? Cant be more that 1 to 2,000.

Agree that it appeals to fans from PNG or WA or other remote locations. But that would mean even less usual NRL attendees went

They also had two crowds under 10000. The 14000 probably wasn’t the biggest worry

Actually it would be, one of the sub 10k crowds was at a country ground, so not sure it fits 10k!!!

The Gold Coast crowd was about par, probably be a record crowd if it was a Titans game, but no one can expect anyone to show up to sporting events on the Gold Coast. Really if the NRL want a second Brisbane team so badly, get rid of the Gold Coast.

Define “new supporter”. Everyone keeps assuming that the 135,000 who attended the Magic Round were 135,000 different people. The number of individuals who purchased tickets would be more like 40,000 to 60,000 who purchased multi-day passes.

I reckon the Sunday before Magic Round they should do a double header on the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast v Parra
Roosters v Auckland

34k traveled interstate or from overseas. They reckon most interstate travelers spend around $800 per weekend. That's a nice $27mill plus into the Brisbane economy plus the locals. Good investment by Qland Govt, no wonder Govt's want marquee sports events.

If we are using GC avg crowds as the cut off for NRL inclusion we will have a comp of around 12 clubs. See you sharks lol.

Thats usually true but hopefully we see a few better crowds there this year..
At the moment its the worse regular ground and only Tamworth has a worse average

Theres only been 3 games though so plenty of time to turn that around
