Define “new supporter”. Everyone keeps assuming that the 135,000 who attended the Magic Round were 135,000 different people. The number of individuals who purchased tickets would be more like 40,000 to 60,000 who purchased multi-day passes.

Thats my point

If the bulk of people attend these games anyway.

So did we tap into the casual fan market ? or are we just counting the same people multiple times

But it was clearly a success for the Qld Gov and the local pubs.

Maybe attending the pubs rather than games will be more fun next time

If 34k traveled interstate then it is surely a lot more individuals when you take into account how many people in Brisbane attended?

Maximum crowd was around 41k most travelers would have got 2 or 3 day passes

Then on the converse many Broncos / Titans fans also probably got multi day passes

What we did get is a high % of multi day attendees.

Maybe only 45k-50k different people actually attended

While on other normal NRL weekends multi-game attendees are a low % so you know 100k plus different people attended

The two extemes say 276k people watched 8 games(someone counted 8 times) or only 50k people watched 8 games (same person only counted once)

Just depends on what spin you put on it

But one thing is for certain a lot of regular NRL attendees or season ticket holders did not go to Brisbane

Storm are offering half price tickets to Rebels members. Interesting idea, doubt it will do much for the crowd figure though.

STADIUM AVERAGES FOR ROUND 9

View attachment 29748

I sat here staring at it for ages not knowing which way to add the crowds up..

In the end I remembered at the start I said all crowds would be recorded from the NRL.com match centre, and for consistencies sake I'll use those figures (the "inflated" ones).

The bottom of the table shows Brisbane's totals if the the final crowd figure of each day was used and divided by the number of games played that day.

The region and overall totals/averages are based of the NRL.com / "inflated" figures though. An asterisk has been placed on the Brisbane and Queensland figures for because of this.
The NRL also confirmed that 135k attended for the round. I think the NRL when they announced each crowd figure, were telling us how many people were in the venue at the point that match was being playednot an official crowd figure per se. To think otherwise is just fudging the numbers.135k cannot turn into 262k in anyones argument.

Why are you complaining ? It's not like NRL supporters go to all 12 games anyway so they are hardly missing out.. For the good of the game the NRL should keep it.

Agreed.
Anything where the NRL takes charge works out well. Anything left to the clubs (like the typical home and away) works out badly. Any area the NRL can wrestle control from the clubs should be taken with both hands.
