Load of crap. Away supporters buy in away team supporter bays (to stick together), home supporters buy wherever they want to sit at their home ground.

Remember when Souths supporters had bought more tickets than Roosters supporters last week? In the end it was probably 2:1 to the Roosters.

Apparently Manly fans have bought the most tickets? Hopefully the Rabbitohs fans aim up tonight and tomorrow and give this game deserved large crowd of 40000 . It's the last time one of these great clubs play this year. They have delivered some great football. They deserve a big crowd!
I doubt it. If manly fans do indeed outnumber Souths supporters the crowd will be no bigger than 18,000.

It's the finals, offering any free tickets is a little embarrassing!

Given the capacity of the stadium, and apathy support for RL attendance I think it would be reasonable to make an offer on the seats at each end, make them really cheap for any NRL club member and free for an accompanying child. Then save the best seats for the two clubs fans at a premium price. You might and another 10k if they were $15 a seat with free child, it's worth a go and see if it boosts attendance without impacting NRL revenue.

Or do the really sensible thing and move the game to the best RL stadium in the city and play it at the best venue for the occasion. Its not like ANZ is really "home" for Souths. A sold out WSS for this game would have been so much more impressive.

Moving it another 10km west of the two clubs' home bases sounds like a top idea!

A whole 10km? yeee gods how would people manage it? They would have to set off on their donkeys a day earlier. Given Souths dont play at their traditional home base its hardly an issue and for Manly fans it is actually 8.6km if you want to be pedantic. I'll travel further than that for a decent coffee!

If you want to get people in through discountes it has to be FREE.
As everyone in promotions knows FREE is magic.

Given how crap the end seats are at ANZ they probably should be free, or better still they pay you to sit there!

Putting my optimist glasses on: I would like to think many manly fans will take a lot of hope from last week and consider themselves a big chance.
Souths supporters will think they can’t play any worse than last week and feel they can beat a manly side without tommy t. And then they can go on to win at a place where they’ve already won this season. Weather has cleared up it’s a beautiful day I’m going.

I love how petty this response is.

You're an NRL fan. I'm an NRL fan. You or I wouldn't baulk at the extra 10km, so your snide bullshit isn't necessary.

The point I'm making is that you want to make it easier for casual fans attend. Those are the ones looking to be part of it at this time of the year. Moving a game further from both clubs' geographic centres would definitely become a factor.

As for your pedantry regarding the venue, ANZ to Bankwest is either 11.4km along the M4 or 10.4km along Victoria Road. Either way it's a minimum 15 minutes extra travel time from Olympic Park to Parramatta which isn't what you want to add for those coming from the east.

Thing is the quality of the experience is far more likely to be a deciding factor in attendance than the slight inconvenience of a few extra kms travel. 30k in Bankwest provides a much better RL experience than 30k at ANZ (if it gets to that many). The game is missing an opportunity if its not going to hype up attending Bankwest and make it the home of RL for the city.
Do people travel longer distances for better entertainment experiences? Yes they do.

Why don’t they drop a payload of free tickets to all the kids protesting in the domain atm? Need to give them something to do after they finish their Captain Planet activities

Offering free tickets is commonplace for every game lol

I understand regular season free tickets to generate interest and boost the atmosphere, especially to young supporters, that's a no-brainer. But for finals, besides marketing, promotions and rewards to clubs participating, just handing out tickets devalues the game a little, not to mention a little disrespectful for those forking out their hard earned and paying for their seat. Shouldn't need to hand out many freebies, there's only a handful games left in the year and these teams have a big sniff on taking home the premiership!

That extra 15 minutes though, crikey, that's a deal breaker instead of sitting in a nice, new stadium to watch a knockout final ;)
