You know you’re going well when you make Stallion seem like a logical poster

whilst carch is a dck and is just trying to justify his own sht clubs attendances, there is some relevance in his crowd commentary. consideration needs to be given re the amount the nrl invests in growing the game in Victoria compared to What afl is spending in nsw and Qland. You get out what you put in. Considering the minimal investment the nrl has made, in comparison to the hundreds of millions afl has invested in expansion, the game is doing pretty well in Melbourne. If we want to fill aami then it’s going to cost the nrl a much bigger investment.

Doubt many Pies fans would of came across to watch the Storm after that loss, but I reckon alot of GWS fans would of came to support Parra. Shame both Western Sydney Teams didn't win against Melbourne opposition in Melbourne

Nah stuff carch, he just loves pressing buttons haha. Storm has been on a progressive growth path and this is evidenced by crowd figures as well as a new home at a quality stadium. As much as I am a storm follower and it may impact its support, I think the thing to elevate the connection with Melbourne is a second team. Seems unlikely for quite a while but with some additional rivalry and exposure, the game can continue to grow here. They need to look at eventually getting one game down here per week.

9?

Fee your team win ratio GF’s is shit then.

How many has the team officially won. You know without the worst cheating of the cap in history

The Storm have won 4/8 in Grand Finals that I've attended--- with possibly my 9th trip up to Sydney in a few weeks. I'd take a 50/50 record if

I know that we have only "officially" won two-- that doesn't change the experience of being there for the '07 & '09 wins at the ground.

I agree with this-- the public exposure to NRL in Melbourne is quite average, especially in the middle of winter. Most seasons in May-June we end up playing a maximum of 2 games in Melbourne across an 8-9 week period. This is the time of year that AFL supporters may be zoning out of supporting their club (due to seeing them every week or them playing poorly) and the Storm should be trying to get some of the attention of the Melbourne sporting public during the AFL bye rounds.

If there was 20-22 NRL games at AAMI Park in a year we'd naturally gain more supporters who would become interested in the game compared to the 11 we currently get that are normally cluttered into 'blocks' early and late in the season.

AAMI Park doesn't even fit 30k-- but I guess trolls gotta troll.

I'll ask my previous again-- when's the last time Cronulla got 20k @ Shark Park? Should be remained the Cronulla minnows.

19k is about the absolute limit ATM, as evidenced by the last game there for Gallen(18,900),and not that many Raiders fans. And decent numbers did not have seats.

Ha
Another team in Melbourne ??
f**k me dead

No way could Melbourne support another team.
There is nowhere near enough interest to warrant a bloody second team
Hilarious suggestion.

Let’s see what happens when Bellamy gives it away and they go to shit on the field.
It’ll be delicious.

Melbourne supports the Storm better than Sydney supports most of the Sydney club.

Hilarious suggestion to think that minnows like the Sharks, Manly & The Bears (R.I.P. eh Stallion) will ever be a profitable team with a larger supporter base.

Hence the ‘eventually’ statement. You laugh at the AFLs strategy of expansion via GWS and Gold Coast, but the investment at the moment is fairly neutral given the amount they get with a 9th game from tv rights. What they have got is two teams in 5 states, that’s a handy footprint and helps drive engagement and attendances in those states, that would most likely stagnate if not for a local rival.

Further Expansion in Melbourne is unlikely for some time but I believe that will increase the exposure significantly in this state. Genuine local rivalries do that.

Also the improved TV ratings in those states--- that's where the AFL 'beats' the NRL is by having decent TV ratings for big games (Finals, etc.) is that the AFL is watched by more people in Sydney & Brisbane than NRL is in Adelaide & Perth.

You do realise what they are building at Shark park don’t you?

Do you understand how many people will be living and shopping there?

We’ll be the next super club.
Melbourne are the next Titans.

The raiders have invested extemely well. It doesnt necessarily mean anything. The roosters having good business connections means more than any "super" club in cronulla

Expansion plan? Two teams in every city? You seem to be mistaking the nrl for the afl lol

How does building a few apartment buildings make you a 'Super' club??

I know the criteria of success is different in Sydney-- but that's the strangest definition of Super club I've ever heard.

Cronulla has been the least secure Sydney club since the mergers so the nrl era. Its understandable that the fans would be bullish about how effective these developments will be. However it can cross into delusional

At the end of the day they are still in competition with all those Sydney clubs for TPAs and they aint the roosters as far as being connected
